4/19/04 - The Panther men's golf team has had a busy spring as they took part in two tournaments last week to open its spring season. Middlebury placed ninth out of 17 teams at the Williams Spring Challenge on April 17th, before placing fifth of 18 teams at the two-day Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Clarkson captured the 20th annual Duke Nelson Golf Tournament hosted by Middlebury College on the Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The Golden Knights were in a first place tie with Hamilton, both firing 307's on day one. Clarkson came back strong on day two with a 311, led by Eric Wallace's 72, to capture the tournament. Williams, who shot an impressive 305 on the second day of the tournament, placed second via a tie-breaker over Hamilton. Vermont placed fourth with a 621, followed by the host school from Middlebury with a 627 in fifth place.
Hamilton's Brian Williams captured medalist honorst with a 76 on day one and an even par score of 71 on day two for a 147 over the weekend.hen available, Duke Nelson Golf results can be found here following Sunday's play.
Middlebury rookie Jay Yonamine paced the team with a 151, placing him in a fourth palce tie. Mitch St. Peter was next with a 155, followed by Chuck Clement with a 157, Derek Singer, who shot a 164 and Tim Quinn, who came in with a 172.
