Men's Golf Enjoys Brief Spring Season

4/19/04 - The Panther men's golf team has had a busy spring as they took part in two tournaments last week to open its spring season. Middlebury placed ninth out of 17 teams at the Williams Spring Challenge on April 17th, before placing fifth of 18 teams at the two-day Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College.
At Williams, junior Derek Singer (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Niskayuna, N.Y.) led the team with an 83, followed by first-year players Chad Bellmare (Bedford, N.Y) and James Yonamine (Eden Prarie, Minn.), each with 84's. Coming in with an 87 was sophomore Sean Breen (Far Hills, N.J.), followed by sophomore Mitch St. Peter (San Francisco, Calif.) with an 89.
St. Peter paced the team at Skidmore with a two-day total of 158. Bellmare shot a 163, followed by Singer and Breen with 164's, and junior Tim Quinn (Greenwich, Conn.) with a 174.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 24th-25th, Middlebury finished 11th of 12 teams at the Northeast District Shoot-Out hosted by Williams. Bellmare led the team with a two-day total of 161. Breen came in with a 169, followed by St. Peter (172), Singer (179) and Quinn (182).<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
