Panthers Finish Seventh At Duke Nelson

Skidmore combined for a two-day total of 599 as they captured the 2007 Duke Nelson Golf Tournament hosted by Middlebury College on the par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The Thoroughbreds trailed Williams by two strokes after day one, but shot an impressive 292 on day two to capture the 25-team tournament. The Ephs placed second with a 605, followed by St. Lawrence (617), Hamilton (621) and Clarkson (623).

Travis Dewire of Skidmore won medalist honors in a playoff with a par on the par-4 17th hole. He and Skidmore's Chris Dejohn both finished the tournament at 145. Dave Velardo of Wesleyan placed third with a 146, Jay Driscoll of Trinity was fourth with a 147, while WNEC's Stephen Rourke, Clarkson's Ryan Swanson and UMass.-Dartmouth's Tyler Kett all tied for fifth place with 148's.

Leading Middlebury on the weekend was George Bauman with a 151, placing him in a 12th place tie. Next for the Panthers was Brian Cady with a 157, Mike McCormick with a 158, Eric Elderbrock, who came in with a 162, and Harrison Bane, who shot a 164. Jeff Patterson of the Middlebury "blue" team shot a 157.
