Skidmore Wins Duke Nelson, Panthers Place Fifth

Trailing by eight strokes after day one, Skidmore battled back to capture the 2008 Duke Nelson Golf Tournament hosted by Middlebury College on the par 71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The Thoroughbred's score (294-299-593) actually rose by five strokes in wet conditions, but day-one leader Trinity (606) shot a 320 after a 286 on the first day of play to finish in a second place tie with NYU (606). Salem State finished in fourth place with a 611, while Middlebury moved up from ninth to fifth with a two-day total of 616. NYU's Alex Hopson won medalist honors with a 144.

Sophomore Jimmy Levins (Rutland, Vt.) led the Panthers with a 152, followed closely by senior Mike McCormick (Oak Park, Ill.) (153) and senior Harrison Bane (Marblehead, Mass.) (154). Senior Kyle Perez (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) (158) and sophomore Brian Cady (Rye, N.Y.) (159) rounded out the Middlebury squad.
