Men's Golf Wins NESCAC Qualifier

The Middlebury men’s golf team has captured the 2013 NESCAC Qualifier hosted by Bowdoin College. By doing so, the Panthers have earned the right to host the NESCAC Golf Championship on April 26-27 at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course. Action took place at the Brunswick Golf Club in Maine.
Middlebury entered the day with a 14 stroke lead after a red-hot 292 on day one. The Panthers cooled off a bit on day two with a 303, good enough to earn a 17-stroke win over Trinity (612). Amherst (619) and Williams (622) rounded out the qualifying teams.
Junior John Louie (Salinas, Calif.) paced Middlebury with rounds of 70 and 75 to capture medalist honors with a score of 145 (+1). Senior teammate Rob Donahoe (Canton, Mass.) finished one shot back at 146 (+2) after firing 76 on Sunday.
Senior Chris Atwood (Rochester, N.H.) was third for the Panthers with a 150, after a 74 on day two. Junior Eric Laorr (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and rookie Fitz Bowen (Kenilworth, Ill. Each shot 78’s on day two, both finishing with a two-day total of 154.
