Men’s Golf Tallies a Runner-Up Finish at Williams NESCAC Spring Opener

The Middlebury men’s golf team improved one spot following day one and posted a runner-up finish at the eight-team Williams Spring NESCAC Opener. Williams won the event with a 593, followed by Middlebury (601) in second, while Williams ‘B’ team and Hamilton tied for third (609). Carding a 307 on day one, the Panthers shaved 13 strokes off their team score and recorded a 294 on day two. Action took place on the Taconic Golf Club Championship Course in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Rob Donahoe fired a 72 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for fourth-place with a 148 after an opening round 76 on the par-72 course. Tying for 11th place was Charlie Garcia, who shot a 77 and 76 for a score of 153. Eric Laorr and Max Alley were just one stroke behind Garcia in a tie for 14th. Each player fired a pair of 77s for respective scores of 154, while Fitz Bowen rebounded with a 74 following an 81 on Saturday and tied for 17th place overall. John Louie rounded out the Panthers competing, finishing in 26th (87-72-159).
