Phinney Earns All-NESCAC Honors

3/2/05 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College men's hockey player Brian Phinney (Ripton, Vt.) has been named to the All-NESCAC second-team. The senior captain is also a finalist for the Joe Concannon award, given annually to New England's best American-born Division II/III college hockey player. Phinney and the Panthers are preparing to make a run at the NESCAC Championship this weekend at Trinity.

Phinney has anchored a Middlebury defense that leads the NESCAC and ranks second in the nation, allowing a mere 1.80 goals/game. The penalty kills also leads the league, while ranking fifth nationally, killing .892 of its opponent's penalties. The senior has seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 25 games played this season.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
