Babson Ties Men's Hockey

1/28/05 - Middlebury and Babson battled to a 1-1 tie at the Kenyon Arena, in an NESCAC/ECAC match-up. The Panthers out shot the Beavers 33-24 on the night, but could not muster up the game-winner.
Babson took a 1-0 at 9:16 of the first period as Ryan Farrell snapped a shot in off the post from the left face-off circle for the five-on-three power play tally. The Panthers tied the game at 11:57 of the second period as Evgeny Saidachev's wrap-around slid along the goal line before Mickey Gilchrist poked it home. The Beavers had a chance to regain the lead at 15:32, but Greg Cassisista's penalty shot was stopped by Ross Cherry. Just 20 seconds later, Cherry came up huge on James LaFreniere with a diving save to his right.
The third period saw Middlebury with several chances to score, but they couldn't convert, forcing the game into overtime. Cherry ended the game with 32 saves for Middlebury, while Craig Weiner made 23 saves for Babson.
