1/7/05 - Despite out shooting <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Connecticut College 42-13, Middlebury was only able to muster up a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over the Camels in the Kenyon Arena. The Panthers are the top-ranked team in the latest Division III national poll.
After 19:44 of scoreless play, Middlebury got on the board late in the period as Patrick Nugent scored a power play tally after a rebound and scramble in the crease area. After a scoreless second period, Connecticut College tied the game with a short handed goal at the 9:56 mark of the third period. Following a Panther giveaway in their own zone, Dave Moccia skated in all alone and beat Yen-I Chen with a nifty move. Middlebury scored the game-winner just 17 seconds later as Jed McDonald scored his first career goal from the left side after a big rebound off the shot of Scott Ward.
Chen made a dozen saves in goal for the win, while Steve Oven made 40 saves for the Camels.
