Maldonado Earns All-American Honors

March 20, 2007

Middlebury College men's hockey player Tom Maldonado (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named a first-team All-American by the AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association). Maldonado recently completed his junior season, helping lead the Panthers to a seventh NESCAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA title game. He was also named to the All-NESCAC team earlier this month, as the Panthers finished 20-8-3.

Maldonado was the anchor of a Middlebury defense that allowed just 2.29 goals/game this season, tops in the NESCAC and seventh in the nation. The defensive core also killed penalties at a league-best .868, putting them eighth among their Division III opponents.

The junior defender ended the season as the team's leader with 24 assists on the season, just one behind the NESCAC leader. He also scored three goals, while ranking second on the squad with 27 points this season. Maldonado now has 64 assists and 78 points in 91 career games.
