January 8, 2010
Nick Resor scored the game-winner on a rebound from just outside the crease, giving Middlebury a 3-1 win over Hamilton in NESCAC action in Kenyon Arena. Resor's fifth of the season came at 14:02 of the third, after Ken Suchoski's backhander had been saved. The Panthers (6-1-2) return to action when they host Amherst on Saturday, while Hamilton (5-4-1) travels to Williams.
Hamilton took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period with a power play goal. Sam Choate ripped a shot from the point that was saved by Max Kennedy, as Chris Lorence was there to put home the rebound for his seventh of the season. The Panthers had a nice opportunity to tie the game at 15:30, but a give-and-go between John Sullivan and Martin Drolet ended in a save from Calvin Bartel.
Leading 1-0 after one, Hamilton had a chance to increase its lead 9:00 into the second period, but a shorthanded breakaway attempt by Tom Chiappetta was stopped by Kennedy. Middlebury netted the equalizer with 2:30 left in the period, when Mathieu Dubuc scored his eighth of the season on the power play. Drolet won the face-off back to Dubuc, who quickly scored with a slap shot from the top of the left circle.
Following Resor's game-winner, Drolet scored his eighth of the year on an empty net at the 19:42 mark. Kennedy ended the night with 22 saves between the pipes to earn the win, while Bartel made 23 stops for the Continentals.
