Men's Lacrosse To Host NESCAC Tournament

5/4/04 - For the fourth consecutive year, <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College will be the host school for the NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship. The Panthers will take on Amherst in the first semifinal on Saturday at noon, while Tufts meets Wesleyan in the other contest at 3:00 p.m. The winners will meet for the NESCAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at noon.

This year's tournament looks to be the most competitive, with all four teams ranked in the top 14 nationally. Middlebury enters the tournament with just one loss, an 11-10 overtime decision at Bowdoin on April 17th. The Panthers defeated Tufts by the same score in overtime on April 14th, topped Amherst 7-6 on April 10th, while defeating Wesleyan 11-8 on April 3rd.

Leading Middlebury's scoring attack this season have been Mike Saraceni (22-30-52), Charley Howe (29-10-39) and Mark Foster (21-11-32). In goal, Eric Krieger has a 6.83 goals against average.
