Rawson Earns National Scholarship

7/13/05 - Men's lacrosse player Will Rawson (Bethesda, Md.) has been awarded an NCAA NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Rawson recently graduated from Middlebury and was an honorable mention All-America selection, as well as a member of the All-NESCAC team. He was also a part of the All-NESCAC Academic squad.

Each of the 29 male and 29 female student-athletes will receive a scholarship of $7,500. The NCAA also awards 114 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who compete in fall and winter sports for a total of 170 annually.

One qualification for a student-athlete to receive a postgraduate scholarship is he/she must have the equivalent of an overall grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale to be considered for nomination.

Other requirements include: the student-athlete performing with distinction on varsity team in the sport, he/she must intend to continue to pursue educational opportunities beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student and he/she must have behaved on and off the field in a manner that brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics.
