Men's Lacrosse Wins At Trinity

April 23, 2005

4/23/05 - Junior attackman Henry Sheehan tallied two goals and three assists to lead the visiting Middlebury College Panthers to a 12-7 win over the Trinity College Bantams in NESCAC men's lacrosse action in the pouring rain this afternoon at Sheppard Field.

Trinity held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter, as sophomore midfielder Patrick Gibbons streaked from the left to the right in front of the goal and shot past Middlebury sophomore goalie Alex Palmisano 3:09 into the game and junior middie Chad Burdette answered a Panther goal with 6:55 left in the quarter for the Bantams.

Middlebury scored six times in the second frame, including an unassisted goal by senior tri-captain David Leach with 7:12 on the clock that put the Panthers ahead for good. Trailing, 7-4, entering the second quarter, Bantam sophomore attackman Curtis Kahn scored in the first three minutes to cut the Panther lead to two goals, but Middlebury scored four unanswered goals, while Palmisano and the Panther defense held Trinity scoreless for the next 18-plus minutes.

Trinity junior midfielder Nick Petri broke the scoring drought with a diving, wrap-around shot from behind the net to make the score, 11-7, with 4:46 left in the game, but Panther senior attackman Mark Foster responded with his third goal of the game in the final two minutes. Palmisano finished with six saves, while Trinity junior goalie Jakob Isbrandsten made 13 stops.
