Connecticut College recorded six-straight goals en route to a 6-3 NESCAC victory over Middlebury during men’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium. The Panthers will hit the road and battle Springfield on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., while Conn. hosts Wheaton on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
Middlebury moved to 1-1 on the season with a 9-7 road win at Plattsburgh on Tuesday in a non-conference game at the Field House Lacrosse Complex. The Cardinals (1-1) faced penalty trouble early and the Panthers capitalized with three man-up goals. The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Connecticut College at 1:00 p.m.
Middlebury fell to Tufts 24-6 at Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium in the season opener for both teams. In a match-up of top 20 teams, the fifth-ranked Jumbos piled up 77 shots to Middlebury’s 33. The 18th-ranked Panthers travel to Plattsburgh on March 4th, while Tufts heads to Keene State next Saturday.
The Middlebury men’s lacrosse team was back on track last spring, earning the top seed for the NESCAC Tournament, finishing with an 8-2 mark in league play. After losing six games by two or less goals in ’12, last year’s squad came up on the right end of six games decided by the same margin. Middlebury finished the season with a 13-3 mark, just missing out on an NCAA bid after a NESCAC semifinal loss.
