MIDDLEBURY THUMPS CASTLETON


MIDDLEBURY, Vermont - Middlebury improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-0 shutout of Castleton State. Six different goal scorers tallied for the Panthers, as they outshot the Spartans, 41-1.


Kellan Florio opened the scoring at the 15-minute mark with a low crossing shot. John Sales made it 2-0 with a blast from 20 yards out. Andrew Stewart converted a nice dish from Sales to make it 3-0 at the 25-minute mark. David Lee scored the first of his career after a scramble to give Middlebury a 4-0 lead at the half. Leland Bourdon and Andrew Helming each netted their first career tallies in the second session to make it a 6-0 final.


Joel Leichtnam was stellar in goal for Castleton, making 25 saves in just under 77 minutes of action. David Lindholm was forced to make no saves as he earned the shutout.
