Men's Soccer Ends Regular Season, Will Host Tufts Sunday

10/30/04 - Middlebury wrapped up its regular season with a 4-0 win over Trinity. The Panthers have earned the second seed in the NESCAC Tournament and will host #7 Tufts in a first-round game on Sunday, October 31st at noon. The Bantams end their season at 3-9-2.
David LaRocca was the story today as he scored the game's first three goals to give Middlebury a commanding lead. The rookie opened the scoring at 25:59 as he took a feed from Kellan Florio before blasting a low hard shot into the net. LaRocca struck again at 41:18 as he beat his defender before scoring his second of the game. He completed the hat-trick at 63:29 of the second half with a tough angled shot from 15 yards away. John Sales scored the team's final goal at 71:23 with a shot to the top corner from 15 yards away.
David Lindholm (2 saves) and Craig Hirsh (3 saves) each played a half to share the shutout, while Eric Wunsch and Spencer Durland combined to make six saves for Trinity. The shutout is the seventh of the season for the Panthers.
