Men's Soccer Tops Wesleyan - Yet To Allow A Goal
September 22, 2007
Carson Cornbrooks scored his first career goal and it proved to be the game-winner as Middlebury remained undefeated and unscored upon on the season with a 2-0 blanking of Wesleyan. Brian Bush needed to make just three saves to post his fourth shutout of the season (he has 14 stops on the year). One of his saves in the first half came on a penalty kick by Wesleyan's Justin Mello.
Cornbrooks' goal came as he headed in a corner kick by junior Casey Ftorek in the 33rd minute. Stephen Hart added the insurance marker in the 64th minute with the assist going to Andrew Banadda. Middlebury has opened the campaign with four straight shutouts for the first time since 2003 when the Panthers began the year with five shutouts in a row.
