The Middlebury College men's soccer team will make its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance this weekend when they host an NCAA Regional on campus. The Panthers will take on Daniel Webster at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13th, while William Paterson meets Thomas in the second contest at 1:30 p.m. The winners meet in the regional final on Sunday, November 14th at 1:00 p.m.

Middlebury enters the tournament with an overall record of 8-4-5 in NCAA Tournament play, going 3-2 in games decided by penalty kicks. The Panthers picked up tournament wins in '96 and '00, before going 4-0-1 en route to the 2007 NCAA Championship.

Middlebury earned its way into the NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid after winning its third NESCAC Championship at Bowdoin last weekend. The Panthers and Polar Bears finished in a scoreless tie, before Middlebury won the title on penalty kicks.

Middlebury owns a 13-3-1 mark entering the weekend, with its eighth straight 10+ win season. The Panthers opened the season 7-0 with seven shutout victories, before falling 2-1 at Colby on October 2nd. Middlebury then won four straight, dropped a pair and have bounced back with a 2-0-1 record over its last three games. The Panthers have 13 shutouts in 17 games this season. The team is third in the NESCAC with 2.18 goals/game, while ranking second with 0.40 goals allowed/contest. Head coach David Saward is now in his 26th year, sporting a career record of 289-93-43 (.731) entering the weekend.

Junior Tyler Macnee (5-2-12) leads the team in scoring this season and now has 22 goals in 51 games at Middlebury. Senior Jake Edwards (3-6-12) is tops in assists, with 13 in the last two seasons.

Junior Otis Pitney (5-1-11), rookie Tyler Smith (3-5-11) and senior Harrison Watkins (5-0-10) round out the team's scoring leaders. In goal, junior Tim Cahill is 13-3-1 with a 0.42 GAA and 11 shutouts on the year.
