The Middlebury College soccer team recently welcomed its newest teammate when it drafted Dmitri Duval, a Crown Point, New York native, through Team IMPACT (Inspire, Motivate, Play Against Challenges, Together) in a ceremony at the College. On Tuesday, January 29, Dmitri was on campus for a “signing day,” where he became an official member of the Middlebury College soccer team.

Middlebury College men’s soccer player Jack Freeman (Ridgewood, N.J.) has earned second-team All-NESCAC honors. The senior captain recently finished his two-year career at Middlebury after transferring in the summer of ’11. Freeman played in all 30 games during his junior and senior seasons as a Panther, earning a pair of goals as a defender.

Middlebury saw its season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to second-ranked Amherst in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. The seventh-seeded Panthers finish their season with a 6-7-1 mark. Eight different Jeffs factored into the scoring in the contest played on Hitchcock Field.

The race for the top seed in the 2012 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship came down to the final day of the regular season, with Williams edging out Amherst by virtue of a coin flip to secure home field advantage throughout the tournament.

The Middlebury men's soccer team dropped its final game of the regular season, falling 3-1 at ninth-ranked Williams (12-0-2, 8-0-2). The Panthers (6-6-1, 3-6-1) have earned a spot in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will play a quarterfinal game on the road Saturday.

Middlebury saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end, suffering a 2-0 loss at home to Bates (4-7-2, 1-6-1). The Panthers (6-5-1, 3-5-1) wrap-up their regular season at Williams on Wednesday, before hitting the road for a NESCAC Quarterfinal game next Saturday.

Senior goalkeeper Zach Abdu-Glass made nine saves to lead Middlebury to a 2-1 win at Trinity on Campus Field.  Trinity falls to 5-3-3 on the year and 3-3-2 in the league, and Middlebury improves to 6-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the NESCAC.

Middlebury and Connecticut College battled for 110 minutes, settling for a 1-1 tie in NESCAC action on Sunday afternoon. The Camels improve their record to 3-2-5 and are 0-2-5 in NESCAC play, while the Panthers are 5-4-1 with a 2-4-1 record in conference play.

Middlebury broke open a scoreless game with three goals in the final minutes on its way to a 3-0 victory over Castleton. The win breaks a three-game skid for the Panthers (4-4) as they prepare to host Hamilton on Saturday. The Spartans fall to 8-3 on the year and return to action Saturday against UMaine-Farmington.

Middlebury made it two straight wins as the Panthers (5-4, 2-4) earned a 2-0 NESCAC victory over Hamilton (3-5-1, 1-5-1) on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury returns to action on Sunday at Connecticut College, while Hamilton hosts Ithaca on Tuesday.

Middlebury dropped its second game in as many days, falling to third-ranked Amherst 2-0 at home on Sunday. The Panthers (3-3, 1-3) return to action at Castleton on Tuesday, while the Jeffs (5-0, 3-0) visit Curry.

Bowdoin sophomore Andrew Gray came off the bench to score the game-winning goal with 10:01 remaining as the Polar Bears earned a 1-0 road win at Middlebury on Saturday afternoon. With their fourth consecutive win, the Polar Bears improve to 4-1 (1-1 NESCAC) this fall. The Panthers fall to 3-2 this season (1-2 NESCAC).

Middlebury College men’s soccer player Alvand Hajizadeh (Williamstown, Mass.) has been named the inaugural NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior scored all three-game winners for Middlebury in a 3-0 week. He scored the opening goal 7:02 into the game in a 2-0 win over Norwich to begin the week, while netting the game-winner in overtime in a 1-0 victory at Colby on Saturday.

Senior Alvand Hajizadeh scored the only goal of the game with a minute remaining in the first half Sunday afternoon as Middlebury earned a 1-0 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference men’s soccer match at Panther Field.

Middlebury won its eighth straight meeting with Norwich (3-2), topping the Cadets 2-0 at home in a non-league game. The Panthers (1-1) now lead the all-time series 48-3-4 as they prepare to travel to Colby on Saturday. Norwich will return to action when they host Suffolk on Saturday.

Middlebury and Colby made it four straight years with an overtime game, but this time the Panthers came out on top in a 1-0 NESCAC victory on Saturday. Middlebury (2-1 overall, 1-1 NESCAC) returns to action at Plymouth State for a non-conference game Sunday at 2:00.

Tufts used a goal in each half on its way to a 2-0 victory over Middlebury in the opener for each squad. Both teams return to action on Tuesday when the Panthers host Norwich and the Jumbos entertain Plymouth.
