Men's Tennis To Host NCAA Regional

4/27/04 - The Middlebury College men's tennis team has received a bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament. For the third straight season, the Panthers will host a NCAA regional this weekend on its home courts.

The Middlebury men will make their third consecutive NCAA appearance after enjoying its best finish ever last season. A year ago, the Panthers advanced to the NCAA semifinals before bowing out to the eventual national champions from Emory. Middlebury enters the weekend with an overall record of 14-2 on the season. They will host a match between Trinity and M.I.T. on Saturday and then take on the winner on Sunday. The victor advances to the Championship week hosted by <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Bates College from May 12th-17th.

The women's team will make its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Middlebury will enter the tourney with a 15-3 record on the season, and will meet Bowdoin for the second straight week. The match will take place at Amherst on Saturday, with the winner taking on the host school on Sunday in the Regional Final. The winner will advance to the Championship week hosted by Kalamazoo College in Michigan from May 18th-23rd.
