Individuals Compete At NCAA's - Waldron & Edmunds Honored

Seniors Brian Waldron, Nate Edmunds and Ari Beilin competed at the NCAA Individual Championships in Fredericksburg, Va. Brian Waldron advanced all the way to the NCAA title match, before falling to Will Boe-Wiegaard of Bates, 6-4, 6-3. The senior had won four previous straight-set matches before advancing to the finals.

Edmunds also had a nice showing, picking up a three wins before bowing out to the eventual champion, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.

Beilin lost a tough first round match, falling 7-6, 6-4.

In doubles action, Beilin and Alex Scott picked up a pair of straight set wins in the first two rounds, before winning a 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 contest in the semifinals. In the title match, the duo were unable to defeat their opponents from UC-Santa Cruz, falling 6-4, 6-1.

Waldron and Edmunds also earned some very impressive honors from the ITA over the championship weekend. Waldron was named the ITA National Senior Player of the Year, while Edmunds took home the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.
