Men's Tennis Hosts Invitational

The Middlebury College men's tennis team hosted its annual fall invitational tournament, with seven teams taking part in the three-day event.
The Panthers had two players in the "A" singles bracket, with sophomore Conrad Olson (Waterloo, Belgium) falling 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 in the semifinals. Senior Alex Scott (Mt. Kisco) won his semifinal match and then picked up a 7-6, 3-6, 10-6 win in the title match.
In the "B" bracket junior Filip Marinkovic (Toronto, Ont.) defeated his teammate, first-year player Andrew Lee (Eden Prarie, Minn.), 6-2, 7-6 in the semifinals. Rookie Andrew Thomson (W. Bloomfield, Mich.) was also a semifinal winner, earning a 5-7, 6-2, 14-12 win. Marinkovic and Thomson will play their championship match at a later date.
First-year player Chris Mason (Owings Mills, Md.) was Middlebury's top player in the "C" bracket, falling in the semifinals, 6-3, 4-6, 10-3.
In the "A" doubles bracket, Marinkovic/Olson defeated Thomson and senior Kevin Bergesen (Beverly, Mass.), 8-6 in the semifinals. Scott and senior George Mayer (Merion, Pa.) won their semifinal contest, 8-5. The title match will be played at a later date. The "B" flight saw Mason/Lee fall 8-6 in the semifinals.
