Men's Tennis To Host NCAA Regional

The Middlebury College men's tennis team will make its eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament when they host a regional on campus from May 8th-10th. Ithaca will meet Baruch in a first-round match-up at 3:00 p.m. to open the regional, followed by a pair of matches on Saturday. Skidmore will meet M.I.T. at 10:00 a.m., followed by Middlebury vs. Ithaca/Baruch at 2:00 p.m. The winners meet in the regional final with a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals on the line at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Middlebury men have won 11 straight matches entering the regional, boasting an impressive 19-2 record. The Panthers have won 17 or more matches for six straight seasons, advancing to the final four in each of those seasons. Middlebury boasts a 20-8 record in NCAA Tournament play since '02, winning the national title in '04. The Panthers followed that title up with two consecutive trips to the national championship match. Middlebury has also won five NESCAC Championships, including a 5-3 victory over Amherst last weekend.

Middlebury is currently ranked first in the Northeast and fifth nationally in the latest ITA polls. Conrad Olson is the top-ranked singles player in the northeast, while Andrew Thomson is ranked ninth. The doubles duo of Thomson and David Farrah are ranked fourth.
