Men's Tennis Post-Season Honors - Peters Is NESCAC Player Of The Year

May 16, 2011

Middlebury College senior Andrew Peters (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the 2011 NESCAC Player of the Year, as determined by the conference coaches. He is the fifth Panther player in the last six years to have either won outright or shared the conference’s top award. Joining him as a first-team All-NESCAC selection was his doubles partner, rookie Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.). Earning second-team honors in singles play was sophomore Alec Parower (Scarsdale, N.Y.). The group recently helped lead the team to the NCAA Regional Championship, as they prepare to defend their national crown in the quarterfinals on May 24th.

Peters added All-NESCAC first-team singles and doubles honors to the Player of the Year award he won. One of only two individuals to return from last year’s first-team singles, Peters has had an impressive final season with the Panthers, going 25-5 overall and 14-4 in dual match play at the No. 1 position. Peters and doubles partner freshman Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.), who also earned first-team doubles, hold a 22-4 overall record entering the weekend. Parower played #3 and #4 singles for the Panthers for most of the year, having a solid sophomore season. He owns an overall record of 13-6, with a win over a player ranked in the top 50.
