Men's Tennis Players Earn NESCAC Honors

Two members of the Middlebury College men’s tennis team were honored when the NESCAC announced its All-Conference teams. Sophomore Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.) earned a spot on the first-team in singles, while senior Derrick Angle (Troy, N.Y.) earned second-team honors in singles. The duo will help lead the team into this weekend’s NCAA Regional at Johns Hopkins.

derrickangleaction10.jpgJones played much of the season at #3 singles, before taking over the #1 spot on April 7th. He has an overall record of 16-7 in ’11-’12, going 5-3 since moving into the top slot. Earlier this season, Jones had a 10 match winning streak. A year ago, Jones was a first-team All-NESCAC selection as well as a first-team All-American.

Angle earns second-team honors for the Panthers in singles play. He has seen time at #2 and #3 singles this season, playing solidly in the #3 slot since April 13th. Angle owns on overall record of 10-8 in ’11-’12.
