May 10, 2013

Three members of the Middlebury College men’s tennis squad have been named to the All-NESCAC team. Junior Alex Johnston (Leeds, England) earned first-team honors in singles, while also making the first-team with his doubles partner, junior Andrew Lebovitz (Weston, Mass.). Earning a spot on the second team was junior Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.). The trio are preparing to host an NCAA Regional this weekend on campus.

At the number one position, Johnston posted a 14-7 singles record and a 13-9 doubles record to earn first-team recognition in both. The junior earned four straight wins at one point, qualifying himself for the NCAA singles competition. He and Lebovitz earned a 7-2 mark as the #1 doubles team, winning their last five matches. The duo have also qualified for the upcoming NCAA doubles championship.

Jones, who earned first-team singles honors a year ago and second-team doubles honors during his rookie season, made it three straight times on the post-season team. Playing at #2 singles this year, he earned an overall record of 9-6 and has also qualified for the NCAA singles competition.
