Ski Teams In Action At Dartmouth

The Middlebury College nordic and alpine ski teams turned in great performances once again as they finished second overall at the Dartmouth Carnival. Vermont won the event, followed by Middlebury, Dartmouth and UNH.

Senior Garrott Kuzzy (Minneapolis, Minn.) was dominate on the nordic side, winning both the 10K and 20K races over the weekend. He won the 20K race in 54:47, followed by first-year racer Tim Reynolds (Bristol, Vt.) in 10th (57:22). Senior Donovan Dums (Hayward, Wis.) was Middlebury's other scorer, placing 11th in 57:34. His winning time in the 10K race was 27:30, with Reynolds placing 10th in 28:28. Dums came in 12th overall, with a time of 28:36.

Junior Evelyn Dong (Wayland, Mass.) paced the women with a third place finish (41:11) in the 15K race. Finishing fifth (42:38) was first-year racer Cassidy Edwards (Glen Arbor, Mich.), followed by junior Jenny Hamilton (Aspen, Colo.) in 13th place (43:59). Edwards led the group in the 5K race, finishing fifth overall in 16:14. Hamilton was close behind in sixth (16:21), followed by senior Taylor Leach (Old Forge, N.Y.) in 14th place with a time of 16:55.

In the women's GS race, sophomore Megan Hughes (Killington, Vt.) was Middlebury's top finisher, placing fourth overall in 1:57.31. Finishing in eighth place was sophomore Kelly Brush (Charlotte, Vt.) in 1:58.77, followed closely by junior Lindsay Brush (Charlotte, Vt.) in ninth (1:59.13). Hughes led the group in the slalom, earning a second place finish with a time of 1:36.93. First-year skier Mattie Ford (Plymouth, N.H.) came in fourth (1:38.17), followed by sophomore Krissy Poehling (LaCrosse, Wis.) in ninth (1:40.69).

The men's GS squad stumbled a bit, placing scorers in 12th-14th place. First-year racer Andrew Wagner (Traverse City, Mich.) led the group in 1:54.11, followed by sophomore Alex Tarberry (N. Conway, N.H.) (1:54.31) and junior Andrew Everett (Andover, Mass.) (1:54.43). Wagner came back with a fourth place finish in the slalom, coming in with a tie of 1:32.11. Everett placed eighth (1:32.67), followed by sophomore Richard Davisson (Bethel, Maine) in 10th (1:32.78).
