Ski Team Finishes Eighth At NCAA's

The Middlebury ski team finished eighth overall at the 2009 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by Bates College. Denver won the NCAA crown with 659 points, followed by Colorado (602.5) and New Mexico (602). Vermont (573) led the eastern schools in fifth place, while Dartmouth was seventh (555), followed by the Panthers (426).

Simeon Hamilton earned All-American status once again for the men, placing ninth overall in the 20K freestyle race with a time of 44:44. The NCAA finish marked the third time Hamilton has achieved All-American honors, including in both races this season. Also with an impressive finish was Patrick Johnson, who came in 15th place in the race with a time of 45:17.

On the women's side, rookie Elise Moody-Roberts turned in another solid performance, placing 15th overall in the 15K freestyle race with a time of 40:00. Senior Robyn Anderson was Middlebury's other racer, completing the race in 40:50, good for 26th place overall.
