Battaglia Earns NESCAC Honors

May 12, 2006

Middlebury College softball player Lauren Battaglia (Framingham, Mass.) has been named to the All-NESCAC second-team for the second consecutive season. The senior helped lead the Panthers to a 15-9 record, coming up just short of a NESCAC Tournament bid due to a tie-breaker.

Battaglia was the NESCAC's fifth-leading hitter this season, finishing the year with a .397 average. She led the team with 29 hits, to go along with her six doubles, 13 RBI and five stolen bases. The senior boasted a .981 fielding percentage as catcher this season, starting all 24 games. Battaglia ends her career at Middlebury on eight of 11 top-five lists for offensive categories. She is the school's all-time leader in RBI (51), is second in games played (112), second in doubles (21) and tied for first with 17 stolen bases.
