Softball Drops A Pair To Williams

Middlebury dropped a pair of key NESCAC West games at Williams, suffering 5-0 and 4-0 losses in a doubleheader. The Panthers move to 13-9 overall and finish NESCAC play with a 5-3 record. NESCAC play wraps up next weekend for the rest of the league, with the tournament taking place from May 5th-7th.

In game one, Williams broke open a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the third inning with four runs on four hits off losing pitcher Jennifer Williams. The Ephs would add on another run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to left field to extend their lead to 5-0. Middlebury could not score in the final two innings, suffering a 5-0 loss. Maura Casey's two singles led the Panthers.

Ephs' hurler Clara Hard allowed just one hit in the second game to earn the win and the series sweep for Williams. The Ephs scored a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single and added two more in the fifth and one more in the sixth to pick up the 4-0 win. Ellen Sargent had a single for the Panthers.
