Softball Earns 20th Win At Wesleyan

April 29, 2007

The Middlebury softball team earned its third 20-win season as the Panthers took the third game of a three-game set by a score of 10-1 at Wesleyan in a five inning game. The Panthers wrap up their season with a doubleheader at Norwich on Tuesday.

Middlebury combined nine hits with four Wesleyan errors and several passed balls to rack up 10 runs, eight of them unearned. Of the six runs in the third inning, which broke the game open for the Panthers, only the first run coming on a Katelyn Cannella triple, was earned. A second runner, who reached by error, also scored on the hit. Allison Bard and Lily Hamburger as well as Jennifer Williams, who pitched for the victory, added RBI singles in the inning after the third out should have been recorded.

With four more runs in the top of the fifth to back the five-hit throwing of Williams, Middlebury was able to lock the game up early.

Williams, Hamburger and Bard all had two hits for Middlebury while senior Dayna Yorks had two of Wesleyan's five hits.
