May 16, 2013

Middlebury College softball players Jessa Hoffman (Golden, Colo.) and Jessica Poracky (Ramsey, N.J.) have earned All-New England Region honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Hoffman is a four-time All-NESCAC selection who was recently named a District I First-Team Academic All-American by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Poracky is now a three-time second-team All-Region honoree.

Hoffman rewrote the record books at Middlebury, earning first-team All-NESCAC honors three times after holding down a second-team spot her rookie season. This season, Hoffman is ranked in the top six among NESCAC hitters in 10 difference categories. The senior shortstop hit .467 this season to go along with 57 hits and 45 runs scored, all new single-season records. Hoffman also hit 11 doubles and drove in 40 runs this season for the Panthers, sporting a .521 on-base percentage. She ends her career as the school’s all-time leader in games (142), at-bats (465), hits (188), runs scored (143), batting average (.404) and triples (25), while ranking second with 43 doubles and 101 RBI.

Poracky is a three-time All-NESCAC selection, earning first-team honors in ’11 and ’12. She spent most of the season as the team’s designated player, while also spending some time behind the plate and at first base. Poracky was second on the team this season with a .382 batting average, leading the team and NESCAC with a school-record 16 doubles, while pacing the squad with 41 RBI, third in the league.  She is Middlebury’s all-time leader in doubles (51) and RBI (125), while ranking in the top five in eight different categories, including third in hits (149) and batting average (.382).
