1/15/05 - Middlebury looked impressive as they defeated Hamilton 147-91 on the road. First-year racer Sara Cowie (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />N. Palm Beach, Fla.) continued to have a great season for the women as she won three events on the day. The rookie was the victor in the 1000 free, setting a new pool record with a time of 10:36.61. She also won the 200 free (1:59.54) and the 500 free (5:15.50).<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Sophomore Barbara Van der Veer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won a pair of events on the day, picking up wins in the 50 free (25.46) and the 100 free (55.43). Also winning two events was senior diver Tessa Truex (Wethersfield, Conn.), who won the one-meter with 273.84 points, and the three meter with 288.30. First-year swimmer Marika Ross (Shorewood, Wis.) won two events, setting a new pool record with a time of 2:10.03 in the 200 IM. She also won the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.52. The other women's winner was junior McKenna Moreau (Canton, N.Y.), who placed first in the 200 back with a time of 2:16.13. The women's 400 freestyle relay team was also victorious with Ross, Van der Veer, sophomore Liz Rice (New Canaan, Conn.) and first-year swimmer Pam Chatikavanij (Bangkok, Thailand) earning a time of 3:30.33.
