Men's Swimmers Top Amherst

12/4/04 - The <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College men's swimming and diving team defeated Amherst for the first time in a dual match by a score of 126-117, in the team's home-opener.
Sophomore Robert Collier (Catonsville, Md.) paced the men's team on the afternoon as he won a pair of events. Collier picked up a win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.12, while winning the 500 free in 4:58.51. Other individual winners were junior Robert Hillas (Princeton, N.J.) in the 1000 free (10:23.82), junior Austin Krossoff (Reno, Nev.) in the 200 free (1:50.22) and sophomore Tim Lux (Sandy Hook, Conn.) with a time of 2:11.43 in the 200 breaststroke. Two Middlebury relay teams were also victorious, as the 400 free (3:14.78) and 400 medley (3:35.08) relay teams earned wins. The freestyle team was comprised of senior Jason Korsmeyer (Weston, Mass.), senior David Hawkins (Arlington, Va.), sophomore John Rayburn (Washington, D.C.) and first-year swimmer Robbie Burton (Oak Park, Ill.).
