Swim Teams Cruise Past Union

The Panther swimming and diving teams continued to roll as they both improved to 6-1 with wins over Union. The men were 200.5-93.5 winners, while the women earned a 198-102 victory.
Marika Ross (Shorewood, Wis.) continued her winning ways with three more victories in the meet. The senior made NCAA "B" cuts with wins in the 200 IM (2:08.63) and 100 free (53.04). She also earned a victory in the 100 IM with a time of 1:00.88. Other dual event winners were junior Catherine Suppan (Burlington, Vt.) in the 50 (31.55) and 100 (1:10.08) breaststroke, and first-year swimmer Emily McDonald (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) in the 200 free (1:59.15) and 50 fly (27.65).
Juniors Kevin O'Rourke (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and Zach Woods (Monroe, N.Y.) earned three wins on the afternoon to pace the men's squad. O'Rourke picked up wins in the 100 fly (52.90), 100 free (48.58) and the 50 fly (23.87), while Woods earned wins in the 200 IM (2:01.79), 100 back (53.94) and the 100 IM (55.71). Senior Peter Bell (Deerfield, Mass.) won the 50 (27.60) and 100 (1:00.53) breaststroke, while rookie Ryan Marklewitz (Charlotte, N.C.) earned wins in the 200 (1:46.23) and 500 (4:47.96) free.
