Several members of the Panther women’s swim team took part in the 2011 NESCAC Championships hosted by Williams College over the weekend. First-year racer Andrea Tibbetts (Dover, Mass.) earned three NCAA Qualifying standards, while setting a new school record with a time of 27.03 to place second in the 50 back. Tibbetts also placed second in the 100 back in 57.61 and third in the 200 back (2:05.93), both NCAA “B” considerations. Her 100 back lead-off leg set a new school record and earned an NCAA “A” cut with a time of 57.10.
The women’s 400 medley relay team of Tibbetts and classmates, Alexandra Edel (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), Maddie Gilbert (Woodstock, Vt.) and Caroline Roos (Fox Point, Wis.) finished seventh in 3:58.98. Placing fifth was the 200 free relay team of Tibbetts, Edel, Maisie Ogata (Columbia, Mo.) and Caroline Santinelli (Sudbury, Mass.), who finished with a time of 1:38.01. Edel earned a pair of solid finishes individually, placing fourth in the 200 (2:07.93) for an NCAA “B” cut, while finishing seventh in the 400 IM (4:38.18). Also earning a top eight finish was rookie diver Colleen Harper (Evanston, Ill.), who earned a sixth place finish with 350.60 points in the three-meter event.
