Tibbetts Earns All-American Honors At NCAA Swimming

The Middlebury swim team finished 26th among 54 scoring teams at the 2012 NCAA Championships at IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) in Indianapolis, Indiana. Panther Andrea Tibbetts earned All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 100 back. After placing sixth in the qualifying race, she earned a time of 56.13 in the finals for another sixth place finish, this one with All-American honors.
On day one, the 200 medley relay team of Tibbetts, Jamie Hillas, Madeline Berkman and Ann Carpenter qualified in the morning for the event with a time of 1:45.40. Unfortunately in the finals, the team was disqualified on its final leg of the race.
Earlier in the morning, Tibbetts was unable to qualify for the finals, finishing the 50 free with a time of 24.13.
On day two, the 200 free relay team of Nora Daly, Carpenter, Tibbetts and Courtney Haron placed 22nd in the prelims with a time of 1:38.12. The 400 medley relay team of Tibbetts, Hillas, Berkman and Daly did not qualify for the finals, as they were disqualified. Jennifer Friedlander also competed in the 400 IM, but did not qualify for the finals.
Earning honorable mention honors on day three was Hillas in the 100 breaststroke, placing 13th overall with a time of 1:04.93 overall. The 800 free relay team of Daly, Haron, Friedlander and Loftus also earned honorable mention All-American honors, finishing in 14th place in 7:42.36.
On the final day, Tibbetts did not qualify for the finals in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:04.15. The 400 free relay team of Daly, Carpenter, Loftus and Tibbetts ended with a time of 3:36.05 and did not qualify for the finals.
