Swim Teams Fall At Springfield

The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams ended the semester with a meet at Springfield. The women were narrowly edged 153-147 at the meet, while the men fell 162-131.

Junior Ian Mackay (Vero Beach, Fla.) and first-year racer Andrew Rosenthal (Potomac, Md.) both earned a pair of wins to lead the Middlebury men. Rosenthal won the 500 (4:59.72) and 1,000 free (10:13.61), while McKay touched first in the 50 free (21.96) and 50 fly (23.74). Also winning for the men were sophomore Teddy Kuo (Bayside, N.Y.) in the 100 fly (54.35) and junior Nick Keenan (Queensbury, N.Y.) in the 100 IM (57.74). McKay, senior Ethan Litman (Bethesda, Md.), sophomore James Wing (Indian Head Park, Ill.) and first-year racer Stephan Koenigsberger (New York, N.Y.) won the 200 medley in 1:38.68.

Sophomore Jamie Hillas (Woodbridge, Conn.) won twice for the women, earning victories in the 50 breaststroke (30.56) and 50 fly (26.91). First-year racer Madeline Pierce (Weston, Mass.) took home a win in the 50 back (29.21), sophomore Maddy Berkman (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) was a victor in the 100 fly (59.50), while sophomore Courtney Haron (N. Kingstown, R.I.) won the 200 free (1:57.49). The 200 medley relay team of Pierce, Hillas, Berkman and sophomore Ann Carpenter (Arlington, Va.) picked up a win with a time of 1:51.82.
