Harper Qualifies For NCAA Championships

Two Middlebury College women's divers competed at the NCAA Division III Diving Regional this weekend at Springfield College. Junior Colleen Harper earned a bid to nationals, recording sixth and 13th-place finishes, while senior Hannah King posted ninth and 20th-place finishes at the event.
Harper earned one of the region's eight at-large bids to the NCAA Championships, with her combined performance at the event. On Friday, she finished 13th on the 1-meter board, recording a score of 387.50. On Saturday, she finished sixth on the 3-meter board, posting a 443.60. Her highest scoring dives of the meet both came on the 3-meter board, where she earned 46.8 points each on her forward two and a half somersault in the pike position and her inward two somersault in the tuck position.
King's ninth place effort came on the 1-meter board, where she finished with a score of 400.70. On the 3-meter board, she ranked 20th overall, tallying a 375.15. Her high score of the meet came on the 1-meter board, scoring 48.3 points on a back one and a half somersault in the pike position.
The 2013 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will run March 20-23 at the Conroe Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.
