Swim Teams End Semester With Meet At Amherst

The Panther swimming and diving teams ended their semester with a meet at Amherst. The men were defeated 183-100, while the women fell 183-111. The Panthers return to action on January 4th and 5th with meets at Colby and Bates.

Junior Jamie Hillas (Woodbridge, Conn.) placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.35, while earning a pair of second place finishes for the women. She accomplished the feat in both the 200 breaststroke (2:25.64) and the 200 IM (2:12.45). Senior Colleen Harper (Evanston, Ill.) won the 1M diving competition with 232.27 points, while senior Andrea Tibbetts (Dover, Mass.) and sophomore Megan Griffin (Sudbury, Mass.) placed second in the 100 back (1:01.02) and 100 fly (1:01.73) respectively.

The women’s 200 free relay team comprised of Tibbetts, Griffin, first-year racer Morgan Burke (Summit, N.J.) and junior Courtney Haron (N. Kingstown, R.I.) won their event with a time of 1:41.66.

On the men’s side, senior Ian Mackay (Vero Beach, Fla.) touched first in the 100 fly (51.47), while earning a second place finish in the 200 free (1:45.11). Also earning a win for the men was sophomore Stephan Koenigsberger (New York, N.Y.), who finished the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.17. First-year racer Michael McGean (Lincoln, Mass.) was second in the 1000 free (10:03.63) as was senior Nick Keenan (Queensbury, N.Y.) in the 200 IM (2:06.14) and sophomore Bryan Cheuk (Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong) in the 50 free (22.17).

The men’s team also was victorious in the 200 free relay, as Cheuk, MacKay, senior Mike Oster (Westfield, N.J.) and sophomore Paul Lagasse (Hopkinton, Mass.) came in with a time of 1:28.40.
