11/11/04 - <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College women's volleyball player Katy Hicks (Santa Barbara, Calif.) has been named to the All-NESCAC second-team. The senior ended her career last week, with a solid 20-12 season for the Panthers.

11/6/04 - The Middlebury College women's volleyball team saw it's season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Williams in the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers end the season with a 20-12 mark, their first 20-win season since '00.


Jamie Wong led the Middlebury defense with 17 digs, while Lexie Fisher paced the team with eight kills in the match.

November 4, 2004

11/5/04 - The Panther women's volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament with a 3-2 win over Colby at Williams. Trailing two sets to one, Middlebury came back with a 35-33 win in set number four, and then won the fifth and deciding set, 19-17. The Panthers advanced to take on Williams, a 3-0 winner over Wesleyan, in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

11/2/04 - The Middlebury College women's volleyball team will make its 11th consecutive appearance in the NESCAC Tournament this weekend at Williams. The Panthers will take on Colby in the quarterfinals on Friday night, with hopes of advancing to the semifinals and finals over the weekend. Middlebury won the NESCAC Championship back in '97 and '98.

October 31, 2004

10/30/04 - The Middlebury women's volleyball team hosted a NESCAC Quad in the Pepin Gym over the weekend. Middlebury did not fare well as they dropped a pair of 3-0 matches to <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Amherst and Tufts. Lexi Fisher and Lacee Patterson each had 11 kills against Amherst, while Jamie Wong had 21 digs. Patterson's seven kills led the team against Tufts, while Wong had 16 digs.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 


Laurie Wollin ended the weekend with 987 assists for the season, breaking the previous single-season record of 958 held by Katie Kenney in '00.

October 26, 2004

10/26/04 - Middlebury picked up its 19th win of the season as they defeated St. Michael's, 3-1. Katy Hicks had 14 kills in the match, while Lexie Fisher added 10. Jamie Wong continued to lead the defense as she had 19 digs on the night, with four other players in double figures with 10 or more digs. Laurie Wollin dished out 45 assists in the win, while Jackie Edwards had four blocks.

October 23, 2004

10/23/04 - The Middlebury women's volleyball team had a good weekend as they went 3-1 at the Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Smith and <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Mt. Holyoke.  The Panthers dropped their only match of the weekend by a score of 3-1 to Brandeis. Patterson (14), Hicks (13) and Hartsock (13) were the kills leaders, while Patterson had a big day on defense with 32 digs.

October 20, 2004

10/20/04 - Middlebury had little trouble with Plymouth State as the Panthers earned a three-set win in the Pepin Gym. Lacee Patterson had eight kills to lead the offense, while Katy Hicks and Sydney Hartsock added seven kills apiece. Jamie Wong had 23 digs on the night, while Laurie Wollin added 16 along with 28 assists.

October 16, 2004

10/16/04 - Middlebury lost its first NESCAC match over the weekend as they fell at Williams, 3-0. The Panthers struggled as senior Sydney Hartsock (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Snohomish, Wash.) paced the team with four kills. 10/14/04 - Middlebury lost a lengthy five-set battle at Colby Sawyer by a score of 3-2. Each of the last three sets was decided by two points, with the Chargers earning a 15-13 win in the fifth and deciding set. Lacee Patterson led the team with 14 kills, while Lexie Fisher added 10. Jamie Wong and Laurie Wollin each had 20 digs to lead the defense.

10/9/04 - The Panther women's volleyball team had another big weekend at a NESCAC Quad hosted by Trinity last weekend, earning a 3-0 mark.

October 6, 2004

10/6/04 - The Panther women's volleyball team was on the road Wednesday as they took on Skidmore. Middlebury managed to win the third set, but came up on the short end of the 3-1 match. Lacee Patterson led the team with 18 kills, while Katy Hicks added 12. Patterson also paced the defense with 23 digs, while Amy McCowan had 19 and Jamie Wong earned 18.

September 28, 2004

9/28/04 - Middlebury fell 3-2 to Williams in a hard-fought battle at the Pepin Gym. A large crowd was on hand as the two teams split the first two sets. The Ephs won the third, while Middlebury came from behind in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set. Lexi Fisher led Middlebury with a dozen kills, while Katy Hicks added 11. Lacee Patterson picked up 24 digs on the night, while Jamie Wong added 21.

September 25, 2004

9/25/04 - Middlebury got off to a great start at <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Amherst as they defeated Wesleyan, 3-1. The balanced attack was led by first-year player Lexi Fisher's (San Francisco, Calif.) six kills and sophomore Lacee Patterson's (Aspen, Colo.) 21 digs.

September 21, 2004

9/21/04 - Middlebury opened up its home season with a 3-1 win over Union. The Panthers were led by Katy Hicks, who pounded out 17 kills on the night. Jackie Edwards added 12 kills, while Lacee Patterson had 11. Jamie Wong led the defense with 23 digs, followed by Patterson with 14.  Lexie Fisher had five blocks in the match, while Laurie Wollin dished out 46 assists.

9/18/04 - The Panther women's volleyball team won four more matches over the weekend to improve to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 


The week began with Middlebury defeating <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Plattsburgh for the second time this season, this time by a score of 3-0. Senior Sydney Hartsock (Snohomish, Wash.) and Katy Hicks (Santa Barbara, Calif.) each pounded out 11 kills in the match, while junior Jamie Wong (San Francisco, Calif.), sophomore Lacee Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) and first-year player Christine Grimaldi (Westport, Conn.) each had 10 digs in the match. Senior Laurie Wollin (Colleyville, Texas) paced the team with 28 assists.

9/11/04 - The Middlebury College women's volleyball team got its season off to a great start as they played second overall, earning a 4-1 record at the Potsdam Invitational.

In the season-opener, Middlebury picked up a 3-0 win over the host school. Sophomore Lacee Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) paced the offense with a dozen kills, while adding 12 digs. Junior Jamie Wong (San Francisco, Calif.) led the defense with 19 digs, while senior Laurie Wollin (Colleyville, Texas) dished out 26 assists.
