The Middlebury women's volleyball team was recently a recipient of the NEWVA (New England Women's Volleyball Association) Academic Team Award. Fifteen teams earned the honor, attaining a team-average of at least a 3.3 GPA during the fall semester. The NEWVA Academic Team Award was established in 2008 to recognize the hard work and dedication of the teams' student-athletes off the court and in the classroom. Twenty-five percent of all the member programs qualified for the award.

Middlebury College women's volleyball player Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) has earned honorable mention honors on the 2008 ACVA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) All-American list. The NESCAC Rookie of the Year also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC second-team after an impressive first year with the Panthers.

Middlebury College women's volleyball player Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) has been named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. The rookie outside hitter also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC second-team after an impressive first year with the Panthers. She also earned AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) New England Rookie of the Year honors.

Middlebury College women's volleyball senior Lindsay Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) has been invited to play in the NEWVA (New England Women's Volleyball Association) Senior Classic game on Sunday, November 16th at Wellesley. Patterson recently completed an impressive four-year career with the Panthers, ending the '08 season with a 15-11 mark and a trip to the NESCAC Tournament.

The Middlebury women's volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17) loss to Williams in a NESCAC quarterfinal match-up at Tufts. The Panthers end their season with a 15-11 record, including eight wins in their final 10 matches of the season.

Spurred by a perfect 10-0 conference record, Tufts University has earned the top seed and the right to host the 2008 NESCAC Volleyball Championship. The Jumbos will begin their quest for the program's second NESCAC title when the three-day, eight-team tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 7 in Medford, Mass. with quarterfinal action beginning at 5:00 p.m. The 2008 NESCAC Volleyball Championship continues with the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 8 and concludes with the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 12:00 p.m.

The Middlebury women's volleyball team has now won eight of its last nine matches, as they earned an impressive 3-0 record at the final quad of the season at Colby. The Panthers finish the regular season with a 15-10 mark, including a 6-4 record in NESCAC play, earning them the fifth seed in the upcoming tournament. Middlebury used a 3-0 win over Bowdoin and 3-1 wins over both Bates and Colby on the weekend.

October 29, 2008

Middlebury saw its five match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Williams in their season finale in Pepin Gym. The Panthers dropped the first two sets in tightly-contested fashion, 25-23 and 25-23. Middlebury won the third set 25-19 before dropping the fourth, 25-10.

Middlebury College women's volleyball player Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Handel continued an impressive rookie season by having a steady week for a Panther team that went 4-0 and won the Silver Bracket of the Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament. Handel averaged 3.70 kills and 3.30 digs per set while hitting at a .366 rate to go along with five aces and a pair of blocks. The Panthers will play their final home match of the season on Wednesday, October 29th against Williams at 7:00 p.m.

The Middlebury College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 record en route to the Hall of Fame Classic title at Mt. Holyoke. The Panthers won the "silver" bracket, with 3-0 victories over three different teams.

October 22, 2008

Middlebury picked up a non-league win over Plymouth on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory. Jane Handel led the offense with 15 kills, while Lindsay Patterson and Kate Heath had seven apiece. Natalie DuPre earned 19 digs defensively, while Patterson had 14 and Lauren Barrett dished out 33 assists.

The Middlebury College women's volleyball team took part in a NESCAC Quad at Amherst over the weekend. The Panthers dropped a 3-0 match to the host school on Friday, before doing the same to Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.

October 12, 2008

The Middlebury women's volleyball team played just its second home match of the season, as they dropped a 3-1 contest to Tufts on Sunday afternoon. Jane Handel led the team with 13 kills, followed by Lindsay Patterson with 11. Natalie DuPre earned 26 digs in the match, followed by Lauren Barrett with 18 and 34 assists.

October 10, 2008

Middlebury dropped a lengthy five-set match at Colby-Sawyer on Friday night, with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 11-25, and 15-13. With the win, the Chargers improve to 15-8, while Middlebury falls to 7-7.

October 7, 2008

The Middlebury women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win at in-state foe Norwich on Tuesday night. The Panthers were 25-15 winners in the first set, before needing a few extra points to pick up a 29-27 win in set number two. Middlebury dominated the third set as they came away with a 25-12 win.

October 1, 2008

The Panther women's volleyball team lost a marathon match on the road, as they fell to Skidmore 3-2. After dropping the first two sets 25-16 and 27-25, Middlebury battled back with 27-25 and 25-16 wins to tie the match at two sets apiece. The Thoroughbreds answered in the fifth set as they emerged with a 15-9 win.

September 27, 2008

The Middlebury women's volleyball team had a solid weekend at Amherst as they took part in the Amherst Classic. The Panthers defeated Westfield State 3-0 on Friday night, before dropping a 3-1 decision to the host school early on Saturday. Middlebury bounced back with a 3-1 win over Brandeis to cap the weekend.

September 23, 2008

The Middlebury women's volleyball team opened its home season with a marathon match against Union. The Panthers dropped the first set 29-27 before tying the match with a win in the second set. The teams split the next two, before Union picked up a 15-11 win in the fifth and final set.

September 20, 2008

The women's volleyball team opened NESCAC play this weekend as they took part in the Hamilton quad. Following a 3-2 win over Trinity on Friday night, the Panthers came back with an impressive 3-1 win over Connecticut College on Saturday. Middlebury ended its weekend with a 3-1 loss to Wesleyan as they prepare to host their home-opener on Tuesday vs. Union at 7:00 p.m.

September 16, 2008

After dropping the first set at St. Michael's, Middlebury battled back to win three straight as they picked up a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night. Lindsay Patterson led the offensive attack with 11 kills on the night, followed by Jane Handel with 10 and Whitney Bean with nine. Lauren Barrett dished out 39 assists in the win, while Natalie DuPre picked up 21 digs.

The Middlebury College women's volleyball team opened up the '08 season with a trip to Wellesley for an Invitational Tournament. The Panthers opened the year with a 3-0 loss to Amherst, before bouncing back with a 3-0 win over E. Connecticut State. The weekend came to an end with a very tight 3-0 loss to the host school from Wellesley.
