The Middlebury College women's volleyball team will make its second NCAA Tournament appearance, and first since '98, when the Panthers travel to Springfield for an NCAA Regional. The matches will take place Friday-Sunday, November 12-14, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Panthers will take on Polytechnic (N.Y.) Friday in the first-round, with the winner meeting the Mass.-Boston/Maine Maritime victor on Saturday at 3:30.

Middlebury is in its second-straight 20-win season, after winning 20+ matches four years in a row from '97-'00. During that time, the Panthers won the NESCAC title in '97, went to the NCAA's in '98, while advancing to the ECAC semifinals in '97, '99 and '00.

Middlebury has enjoyed a stellar season, boasting a 24-5 mark as they enter NCAA Tournament play. The Panthers recently earned three wins at the NESCAC Tournament, capturing the title with a 3-1 victory over Tufts at Amherst. Middlebury has enjoyed some big winning streaks this season, winning six, eight and now nine matches in a row during the season.

The team leads the NESCAC with 12.56 kills/set, while ranking second with 20.28 digs/set. The Panthers are also among the league leaders in hitting percentage (.218-4th), assists (11.60-3rd) and blocks (1.71-4th).

Junior Jane Handel has been the team's offensive leader for most of the season. The two-time All-NESCAC selection was an honorable mention All-American choice a year ago, winning NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors in '08. She paces the team with 3.07 kills/set, is second with 3.83 digs/set, while earning 30 blocks and 39 service aces. Handel has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week three times this fall.

Current NESCAC Player of the Week Megan Jarchow has enjoyed a solid rookie season. She is second on the squad in kills (3.00/set), to go along with 29 blocks. Senior Lauren Barrett was a second-team All-Conference choice as year ago as the team's setter. She is the school's all-time leader in assists with 3,875, currently adding to her single-season record with 1,104 this fall.

Other team leaders this season include sophomore Julia Gibbs (2.63 kills, .57 service aces, 2.67 digs), junior Elissa Goeke (1.84 kills, .87 blocks) and  sophomore Caitlin Barrett (5.97 digs).
