November 16, 2011

Junior Caitlin Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) has earned New England All-Region honors from the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association), while being named an honorable mention All-American nominee. Junior Julia Gibbs (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Megan Jarchow (Cos Cob, Conn.) were both recognized as All-Region honorable mention selections. The group helped lead the Panthers further than any other volleyball team in school history, advancing to the round of 16. Middlebury finished the ’11 season with an overall record of 23-9, advancing to the NESCAC Championship match.

Barrett, who was a second-team All-NESCAC selection this fall, led the team this season with 4.98 digs/set. The number placed her fourth among her NESCAC opponents. She earned a season-high 41 digs vs. Coast Guard, while earning 20 or more 14 times in ’11. Barrett, who earned NCAA All-Tournament honors last season, is third all-time at Middlebury with 1,444, second in digs/set with 4.46. She is also the school’s all-time leader in reception percentage at .922 and is third in serve percentage at .948.
