Field Hockey Players Earns Honors

11/29/05 - Five members of the Middlebury College field hockey team earned more post-season honors as the All-Region and All-American teams were announced. Sophomore Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.), senior Allison Smith (Darien, Conn.), senior Janie Mackey (St. Louis, Mo.), senior Channing Weymouth (Plymouth, N.H.) and junior Claire Edelen (Sparks, Md.) all garnered honors.

Field Hockey Falls In NCAA Regional

11/12/05 - The Middlebury College field hockey team saw its season come to an end as they fell 2-1 on penalty strokes to Springfield. The NCAA Regional game was played at Bowdoin, with the host school advancing to meet Springfield in the regional final on Sunday. The Panthers finish the season with a 14-4 record.

Five Field Hockey Players Earn All-NESCAC Honors

11/10/05 - Five members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored today, earning NESCAC All-Conference honors. Seniors Allison Smith (Darien, Conn.) and Janie Mackey (St. Louis, Mo.), along with sophomore Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.) were all first-team selections. Senior Channing Weymouth (Plymouth, N.H.) and junior Claire Edelen (Sparks, Md.) were both second team honorees. The five are preparing for Middlebury’s appearance in an NCAA Regional this weekend at Bowdoin.

Field Hockey Prepares For NCAA Regional

11/10/05 - The Middlebury College field hockey will take part in an NCAA Regional this weekend at Bowdoin College. The host school will meet The College of New Jersey on Saturday, November 12th at 11:00 a.m., while the Panthers will battle Springfield (20-2) at 2:00 p.m. The regional final will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Middlebury is making its third consecutive and sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.

Field Hockey Advances To NCAA Regional

11/9/05 - Middlebury cruised to a 5-1 win over Manhattanville in the first round of the NCAA Division III field hockey tournament on a cold and rainy afternoon on Kohn Field. The Panthers advance to Bowdoin to take on Springfield Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The regional final is slated for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Manhattanville, who was making its first NCAA Tournament appearance, ends its season at 13-10.

Field Hockey To Host NCAA Tournment Game

11/7/05 - The Middlebury College field hockey team will makes its third consecutive and sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship when they host Manhattanville in a first-round match-up Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. on Kohn Field.

Field Hockey Falls In NESCAC Semi's

11/5/05 - Middlebury was eliminated from the NESCAC Tournament as Cathleen Clark put home the game-winning goal 1:04 into overtime, lifting  Williams to a 1-0 win over the Panthers in the semifinals at Bowdoin. The Panthers will hope for an NCAA bid when the pairings are announced late Sunday night.

11/2/05 - The Middlebury College field hockey team will makes its sixth consecutive trip to the NESCAC Tournament this weekend at Bowdoin College. The Panthers will take on Williams in a semifinal game on Saturday at 1:30 , while the host school will meet Wesleyan in the other semifinal at 11:00 a.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship at noon on Sunday.

10/30/05 - Middlebury picked up a 3-0 win over Bates in a NESCAC Tournament first-round game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers advance to the NESCAC semifinals next weekend and will take on Williams at 1:30 p.m. on the campus of Bowdoin College. The host school will meet Wesleyan in the other semifinal at 11:00 a.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship at noon on Sunday.

Field Hockey Tops Trinity, To Host Bates In NESCAC Tourney Game

10/29/05 - Reid Berrien scored the game-tying goal in the second half and the game-winner with 1:09 left in overtime to lead the visiting Middlebury to a 2-1 win over the Trinity in the NESCAC field hockey regular season finale this afternoon. The Panthers will host Bates in a NESCAC first-round match-up on Sunday at 1:00.

Field Hockey Defeats Rensselaer

10/26/05 - Middlebury won its sixth consecutive game as they picked up a 4-1 win over Rensselaer on Kohn Field. The ninth-ranked Panthers wrap up their regular season at Trinity on Saturday before hosting a NESCAC Tournament first-round game on Sunday at 1:00. The Red Hawks wrap up their regular season at St. Lawrence on Saturday.

Field Hockey Blanks Keene

10/23/05 - Middlebury out shot Keene State 19-4 on its way to a 4-0 shutout over the Owls on Kohn Field. The ninth-ranked Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host Rensselaer at 3:30.

Field Hockey Rolls Over Bates

10/22/05 - Middlebury scored five first half goals and never looked back as they cruised to an 8-1 win over Bates in NESCAC play. The Panthers, ranked ninth nationally, move to 7-1 in NESCAC play, while the Bobcats fall to 2-6.

Field Hockey Wins At Amherst

10/19/05 – The Middlebury field hockey team improved to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the NESCAC with a 2-1 road win at Amherst.

 

Weymouth Is Named NESCAC Player of the Week

10/17/05 - Middlebury College field hockey player Channing Weymouth (Plymouth, N.H.) has been named the NESCAC player of the week.

Weymouth had a big week for Middlebury (7-2), leading the 11th ranked Panthers to wins over #15 Williams and #1 Ursinus. Weymouth scored the game's first goal against Williams and then assisted on the game-winner in the 3-2 overtime. The following day she scored the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Ursinus on Kohn Field. She has two goals and three assists for seven points on the season.

Field Hockey Knocks Off Ursinus

10/16/05 - Just one day after defeating #15 Williams, #11 Middlebury knocked off the number one team in the nation, as they defeated Ursinus 2-1 on Kohn Field.  The Panthers return to action at Amherst on Wednesday.

Field Hockey Tops Williams In OT

10/15/05 - Middlebury notched a key NESCAC win with a 3-2 overtime victory over Williams on a soggy Kohn Field.  The Panthers entered the game ranked 11th nationally and third in the conference, while the 15th ranked Ephs were in second place in the NESCAC.

Field Hockey Falls In 2OT

10/2/05 - Middlebury saw its 18-game NESCAC regular season winning streak come to an end on Sunday as Bowdoin picked up a 2-1 double overtime win on Kohn Field. The Panthers entered the game ranked sixth in the nation, while the Polar Bears were in the 13th spot.

Field Hockey Rolls Over Colby

10/1/05 - Middlebury improved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-1 win over Colby on Kohn Field.  This was the Panthers’ seventh straight victory over the NESCAC foe Colby Mules, as Middlebury remains undefeated in conference play.

Field Hockey Defeats Wesleyan

9/24/05 - The Panther field hockey team improved to 4-1 on the season as they earned a 3-1 win over Wesleyan in a NESCAC contest in Connecticut. Trailing 1-0, Ashley Lyddane tied the game for Middlebury on a penalty corner as time expired in the first half. The senior gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead midway through the second half, before Claire Edelen scored the game’s final goal with seven seconds left to play. Meghan McGillen made six saves in goal for the win.

Field Hockey Falls To Skidmore

9/20/05 - Skidmore handed Middlebury just its fourth loss in its last 44 games as they picked up a 3-1 win over the Panthers on Kohn Field. Middlebury entered the game ranked second, while Skidmore was 14th in the early season national poll.

Field Hockey Moves To 3-0

9/17/05 - Lacey Farrell and Taryn Petrelli scored goals less than two minutes apart in the second half to give visiting Middlebury a 2-0 victory over Tufts in NESCAC field hockey action on Saturday.

Lyddane Earns Player of the Week Honors

9/12/05 - Middlebury College field hockey player Ashley Lyddane (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC player of the week. Lyddane tallied three goals in a 2-0 weekend for the Panthers. On Saturday, she collected two goals in a 4-1 win over Connecticut College. Lyddane followed that up with the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Springfield, adding three defensive saves in the contest.

Field Hockey Wins Again

9/11/05 - Middlebury won its second game in as many days as they picked up a 2-1 win at Springfield. After a scoreless first half, Emily Enos tipped in a shot from Dana Rye after a penalty corner to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead at 17:08. The Pride tied the game at 10:18, only to have Lyddane answer with a great individual move just 20 seconds later to give Middlebury a 2-1 win. Meghan McGillen made 14 saves in goal for the win.

Field Hockey Opens With A Win

9/10/05 - The Middlebury College field hockey team opened up its 2005 season with a 4-1 win over Connecticut College on Kohn Field. The Panthers out shot the Camels 18-8 on the afternoon and will return to action tomorrow with a road game at Springfield.
