Berrien & Farrell Earn All-American Honors

Seniors Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.) and Lacey Farrell (Greenwich, Conn.) of the Middlebury College field hockey team have been named All-Americans by the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association). The pair helped lead Middlebury to a 17-5 record and a third trip to the NCAA title game.

Field Hockey Falls In NCAA Title Game

Middlebury saw its hopes of a second NCAA field hockey title come to an end as they fell 4-3 to Bowdoin in the title game at Ursinus. The Panthers scored as many goals in the game as the Polar Bears had allowed all season. The national championship was the first-ever for Bowdoin College, as they finish the year with a perfect 20-0 mark. Middlebury ends the season at 17-5.

Field Hockey Tops Salisbury In OT (Watch GWG) - Headed To NCAA Title Game

Middlebury has advanced to the NCAA Championship game after a 2-1 overtime win over Salisbury in the NCAA semifinals at Ursinus. The Panthers will take on Bowdoin, a 1-0 winner over Lebanon Valley, in the title game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. This will mark the third NCAA title game appearance for Middlebury, as well as the first All-NESCAC final.

The Middlebury College field hockey team will make its third trip to the NCAA final four in the last five years after three NCAA Tournament wins last week. Field Hockey Players Earns Regional Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were honored today when the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) announced its 2007 All-Region teams. Field Hockey Defeats Messiah In OT - Headed To Regional Final

Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Regional Final with a 4-3 overtime win over Messiah in a game played at The College of N.J. The Panthers will take on the host school at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday for a trip to the final four. Middlebury outshot Messiah 25-10 on the afternoon, holding an 18-9 advantage in penalty corners.

Field Hockey Headed To NCAA Regional

The Middlebury College field hockey team will take part in one of four, four-team regionals this weekend. The Panthers will travel to The College of New Jersey, where they will take on Messiah at 2:00 on Saturday. The host school meets William Smith in the other match-up at 11:00 a.m. The winners meet in the regional final for a trip to the final four on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Field Hockey Tops UMaine-Farmington In NCAA Game

Middlebury outshot UMaine-Farmington 40-4 as the Panthers picked up a 5-1 win over the Beavers in an NCAA Tournament first-round game on Kohn Field. The Panthers advance to an NCAA Regional this weekend at The College of New Jersey, where they will take on Messiah (14-4) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. If victorious, Middlebury will play in the regional final on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. UMaine-Farmington ends its season with a 13-6 record.

Field Hockey Falls In NESCAC Title Game

Middlebury saw its hopes of a NESCAC Championship fall short as they fell at Bowdoin 3-1 on Sunday in the title game. The Polar Bears claim their third-straight NESCAC Championship and fourth overall, improving to 16-0 on the season. With the victory, Bowdoin receives the NESCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament which begins next week. Ninth-ranked Middlebury (13-4) will hope for an at-large bid. Selections will be released late Sunday night.

Pentifallo Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College field hockey player Caitlin Pentifallo (River Edge, N.J.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The junior goalkeeper picked up a pair of shutouts last week as the Panthers went 2-0. Pentifallo made a pair of saves in a mid-week win over Keene St. before stopping all nine shots she faced in a 1-0 victory at Amherst on Saturday.

The Middlebury field hockey team improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the NESCAC with a 1-0 road win at Amherst. The Panthers will host Williams next Saturday at noon on Kohn Field.

Field Hockey Tops Keene

Middlebury won for the fourth time in its last five games as they picked up a 2-0 non-league win over Keene State on Kohn Field. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Owls, who were out shot 23-3 in the contest.

Field Hockey Falls To Bowdoin

The Middlebury field hockey team saw its three-game winning streak snapped as second-ranked Bowdoin handed the Panthers a 1-0 loss on Kohn Field. The Polar Bears move to 8-0 on the season and have yet to allow a goal in ‘07. Tenth-ranked Middlebury falls to 5-2 on the year.

Middlebury won its third straight game as the Panthers topped Colby 2-1 in a NESCAC field hockey game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers return to action on Sunday with a key NESCAC contest against Bowdoin at noon.

Late Goal Lifts Field Hockey Over Wesleyan

Taking advantage of one of its six second-half penalty corners, Middlebury got the game-winning goal from Heather McCormack with 4:22 remaining to pick up a 2-1 win over Wesleyan. The Cardinals got a piece of the ball following the initial play but could not clear. Dana Heritage pushed the ball forward to McCormack who continued the ball on its way into the goal on the left side from in close.

Middlebury held a 4-1 lead and scored the game’s final three goals to pick up a convincing 7-2 win over Skidmore on Kohn Field. The Panthers entered the game ranked ninth in the latest Division III national poll, while the Thoroughbreds were 17th. Middlebury moves to 3-1 on the season, while Skidmore suffers its first loss and falls to 4-1.

Field Hockey Falls At Tufts

Tufts earned its first win over Middlebury in 22 years as the Jumbos picked up a 3-1 win over the fifth-ranked Panthers. Ileana Casellas-Katz scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals for Tufts.

Field Hockey Moves To 2-0

Middlebury moved to 2-0 on the season as they picked up an impressive 4-1 road win at Springfield. Middlebury is ranked fifth in the latest national poll, while Springfield entered the game in the 15th slot.

Field Hockey Blanks Conn.

Middlebury looked impressive on Kohn Field as they earned a 7-0 shutout over Connecticut College in the season-opener for both squads. The Panthers outshot the Camels 29-15 and used five different goal scorers in the game.

Howard Named Asst. Field Hockey & Lacrosse Coach

Former Middlebury College standout Heidi Howard ’99 has been named an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach at her alma mater. Howard comes to Middlebury from Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, where she served as the head coach of the girls’ lacrosse team for the past two seasons, while also assisting the field hockey team.
