When Middlebury College women’s ice hockey forward Shannon Sylvester first learned that she and two other college athletes had been selected to travel with Associate Director of Athletics Gail Smith to a conference in Atlanta, Ga., she felt honored and excited — and then she got down to work.

Kogut Appears In Sports Illustrated

Middlebury College hockey goaltenders Kate Kogut (Springfield, Mass.) and Doug Raeder (Needham, Mass.) will appear in the “Faces In The Crowd” section of Sports Illustrated in the upcoming April 10th issue that hits newsstands Wednesday, the 5th. The duo are the 13th and 14th people to represent Middlebury College Athletics in the magazine since 1996.

Women's Hockey Wins NCAA Championship

Middlebury won its third consecutive NCAA title as they picked up a 3-1 win over Plattsburgh in the championship game at Plattsburgh. The national title is the fifth for the women’s hockey program and the 25th for Middlebury College in the last 12 years. The Panthers end their season at 27-2, tying the school record of 27 wins set back in the ’99-’00 season. Middlebury scored goals via the power play, penalty shot and short handed situation in the game.

Women's Hockey Advances to Title Game

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team advanced to the NCAA Division III championship game for the third consecutive year with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday afternoon at Stafford Arena in Plattsburgh, New York. The Panthers took a 2-0 lead on goals by Emily Quizon and Shannon Sylvester in the second period and then held off a furious Gustavus rally in the third period to claim the one-goal victory. Middlebury, which improves to 26-2-0, will play Plattsburgh State for the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday at 7:00 pm.

Quizon Is National Player of the Year, Midd. Earns Four All-Americans

Four members of the Middlebury College women’s hockey team were named to the All-American team by the AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association). Senior Emily Quizon (Chino Hills, Calif.), senior Kate Kogut (Springfield, Mass.), junior Shannon Tarrant (Brookfield, Conn.) and first-year player Annemarie Cellino (W. Seneca, N.Y.) were all honored. The four players helped lead Middlebury to its third consecutive NCAA title, and fifth national title overall, with a 3-1 win over Plattsburgh last weekend.

Women's NCAA Games To Be Webcast

Both NCAA women's hockey tournament games can be heard live over the internet this weekend. The Panthers take on Gustavus Adolphus at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 17th in the NCAA semifinals at Plattsburgh. Middlebury Looks For Third Straight Title

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team will makes its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA semifinals when they travel to Plattsburgh this weekend. The Panthers will meet Gustavus Adolphus in the first semifinal on Friday, March 17th, while the host school battles Wisconsin-Stevens point in the second game at 7:00 p.m.

Women's Hockey Tops Manhattanville

Middlebury advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the third consecutive season after a 4-3 win over Manhattanville in an NCAA quarterfinal match-up in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers advance to take on Gustavus Adolphus in the semifinals next Friday in Plattsburgh. The host school meets Wis.-Stevens Point in the other semifinal contest.

Middlebury To Host Manhattanville In NCAA Quarters

Middlebury will makes its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 10th when they host Manhattanville at 7:00 p.m. This will be the second straight NCAA quarterfinal match-up between the two schools. A year ago, Emily McNamara scored the game-winner 16:31 into overtime to lift the Panthers to a 3-2 win.

Women's Hockey Wins Fourth NESCAC Crown

Middlebury won its fourth NESCAC Championship and second straight over Bowdoin with an 8-2 win over the Polar Bears in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers will make their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament when the pairings are announced Sunday night. Bowdoin will hope for an at-large bid to the tourney.

Quizon Named NESCAC Player of the Week

Middlebury College women’s hockey player Emily Quizon (Chino Hills, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Quizon led the Panthers to their fourth NESCAC Championship with a convincing 8-2 win over Bowdoin in the title game.

Women's Hockey Headed To NESCAC Final

Middlebury broke up a scoreless tie with three third period goals on its way to a 3-1 win over Colby in a NESCAC semifinal in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers advance to the NESCAC Championship game at 1:00 on Sunday against Bowdoin, a 2-1 winner over Williams. This will be Middlebury’s fourth consecutive trip to the title game, capturing the tournament in ’01, ’03 and ’05.

Women's Hockey Dominates NESCAC Awards - Quizon Is Player of the Year, Cellino Is Rookie of the Year

Middlebury claimed four of six spots on the All-NESCAC first-team, while also boasting the conference player and rookie of the year. In all, five Panthers were honored when the NESCAC released its All-Conference team today. Middlebury is currently preparing to host the NESCAC semifinals and championship this weekend in the Kenyon Arena.

Women's Hockey Ready For NESCAC Tournament

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team will make its fifth consecutive trip to the NESCAC semifinals this weekend. The Panthers will host the tournament for the first time since they hosted the inaugural tourney in ’02. Middlebury will take on Colby, Saturday, March 4th at 12:30 p.m., while Bowdoin will meet Williams in the other semifinal at 3:30 p.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Women's Hockey Blanks Trinity

Middlebury scored four second period goals on its way to an 8-0 win at Trinity in the final NESCAC regular season game for both teams. The Panthers will draw a first-round bye and host the NESCAC semifinals and championship on March 4th and 5th in the Kenyon Arena.

Women's Hockey Tops Hamilton

Annmarie Cellino scored two goals to lead Middlebury to a 5-1 NESCAC road win at Hamilton. Emily Quizon added a goal and two assists, while Kate Kogut made 22 saves and improved her record to 16-2 in goal this season.

Women's Hockey Defeats Amherst, Clinch Home Ice

Middlebury broke open a 2-1 game with a pair of third period goals on its way to a 4-1 win over Amherst. The top-ranked Panthers dominated the third period, out shooting the Jeffs 17-4 in the session. With the win, Middlebury clinched the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament on March 4th and 5th.

Women's Hockey Blanks Conn.

Middlebury out shot Connecticut College 40-8 on the night, picking up a 2-0 win over the Camels in NESCAC play. The Panthers return to action tomorrow when they host Amherst at 3:00 p.m.

Middlebury Falls At Plattsburgh

Middlebury suffered its second straight loss as the #2 Panthers fell 4-1 at top-ranked Plattsburgh (21-1). The win avenges the Cardinals only loss of the season, suffered at the hands of the Panthers in November.

Williams Knocks Off Women's Hockey

Middlebury saw its 24-game winning streak come to an end as they suffered a 4-1 loss to Williams in NESCAC play on Sunday afternoon. The top-ranked Panthers return to action on Wednesday night at second-ranked Plattsburgh.

Women's Hockey Blanks Gustavus

In a battle of two of the nation’s top three teams, #1 Middlebury improved its winning streak to 24 games with a 3-0 win over third-ranked Gustavus Adolphus. The Gusties held a 26-20 shots advantage in the contest, but couldn’t solve Kate Kogut, who made 26 saves for the shutout.

Women's Hockey Hands Bowdoin 9-1 Loss

The top-ranked Middlebury College women's ice hockey team scored four goals in the first period and never looked back, extending their winning streak to 23 games with a 9-1 win at eighth-ranked Bowdoin on Saturday. The Panthers are Division III's only unbeaten, and move to 15-0-0 on the season, while Bowdoin drops to 10-6-0.

Middlebury ran its record to 16-0 as they picked up a 3-0 road win at Colby. The Panthers return to action on Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin.

The Middlebury women's hockey team survived a scare on the road as they squeaked out a 2-1 win at N.E.C. The Panthers outshot the Pilgrims 43-21 on the night, but ran into a tough goaltender.

Women's Hockey Tops #5 St. Thomas

Top-ranked Middlebury handed fifth-ranked St. Thomas its first loss of the season as the Panthers out shot the Tommies 48-15 on its way to a 3-1 win at the Kenyon Arena.

Middlebury head coach Bill Mandigo earned his second win in as many days against his alma mater as the Panthers took game two, 3-0 at Wesleyan.

Women's Hockey Defeats Bowdoin

Middlebury moved to 9-0 on the season as the Panthers earned a key NESCAC win over Bowdoin, by a score of 4-2 in the Kenyon Arena. The Panthers move to 6-0 in the league, while Bowdoin falls to 4-4, 3-1 in league play.

Women's Hockey Rolls St. Anselm

Middlebury remained undefeated on the season with a 6-0 non-league road win at St. Anselm to start the new year. Karen Levin scored two goals and added three assists to lead top-ranked Middlebury to the win.

12/10/05 - Middlebury ended its semester at 7-0 as the top-ranked women's hockey team picked up a 4-1 win at Williams. Shannon Sylvester scored two goals and assisted on two others as the Panthers went 4-4 on the power play.

Women's Hockey Rolls Over Conn.

12/3/05 - Middlebury picked up an 8-1 victory at Connecticut College  in NESCAC women's ice hockey action played at Dayton Arena Saturday afternoon. Annmarie Cellino tallied a hat-trick, leading the Panthers to the victory, while Liz Yale-Loehr chipped in with two scores for the Panthers. 

Late Goal Lifts Middlebury Over Amherst

12/2/05 - Middlebury moved to 5-0 on the season with a 4-3 NESCAC road win at Amherst. Shannon Tarrant scored the game-winner for the Panthers with 5:22 remaining to break a 3-3 tie.

Cellino Named Player of the Week

11/28/05 - Middlebury College women’s hockey player Annemarie Cellino (W. Seneca, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week.  The rookie netted four goals and assisted on two others as Middlebury picked up a pair of NESCAC wins over Trinity and Hamilton. Cellino had a goal and an assist vs. Trinity, before earning a hat-trick, along with an assist, in the Panther's win over Hamilton.
Cellino and the top-ranked Panthers return to action this weekend when they travel to Amherst and Connecticut College.

Women's Hockey Tops Hamilton

11/27/05 - Middlebury out shot Hamilton 35-11 and scored four power play goals to capture their second win of the weekend. Annmarie Cellino scored a hat trick for Middlebury in the 6-2 win, which brings the Panthers to 4-0 on the season.

11/26/05 - Top-ranked Middlebury scored five first period goals and never looked back on its way to a 9-0 win over Trinity in the Kenyon Arena. Randi Dumont, Erika Nakamura and Alison Graddock each had a pair of goals as the Panthers move to 3-0 on the season.

11/20/05 - Top-ranked Middlebury picked up a 4-2 win over second-ranked Plattsburgh to capture its own tournament in the Kenyon Arena. The Panthers move to 2-0 on the season, while the Cardinals drop to 7-1.

Women's Hockey Opens With Win Over Elmira

11/19/05 - In a rematch of the ’05 NCAA Championship game, #1 Middlebury defeated #3 Elmira 4-3 in the Middlebury Tournament held at the Kenyon Arena. The Panthers will take on Plattsburgh, a 3-2 winner over Williams, in the title game tomorrow at 5:00. Elmira meets Williams in the consolation game at 2:00.
