Three Women's Hockey Players Earn All-American Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College women’s hockey team were honored when the AHCA (American Hockey Coaches Association) announced its All-American teams. Senior Karen Levin (Morton Grove, Ill.) and junior Annmarie Cellino (W. Seneca, N.Y.) earned first-team honors, while first-year player Anna McNally (St. Paul, Minn.) earned second-team honors. The three helped lead the Panthers to a 19-4-3 season, including its seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Women's Hockey Falls To Manhattanville In OT

Danielle Mazurek scored 14:38 into overtime to lift Manhattaville to a 4-3 win over Middlebury in a NCAA Quarterfinal game in Kenyon Arena. The win avenges quarterfinals losses by the Valiants in each of the last three years at Middlebury. Manhattanville will take on Wisconsin-Superior, a 3-1 winner over Gustavus Adolphus in a semifinal game next Friday at 3:30 at Plattsburgh. The host school will meet Elmira, a 3-2 winner over Amherst, in the nightcap at 7:00.

Women's Hockey To Host NCAA Quarterfinal Contest - Watch Live!

Middlebury will makes its seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 15th when they host Manhattanville at 4:00 p.m. This will be the fourth straight NCAA quarterfinal match-up between the two schools, with the Panthers advancing 3-1 in ’07, 4-3 in ’06 and 3-2 in overtime in ’05. Middlebury leads the all-time series between the schools, 4-2. Tickets are priced at $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Women's Hockey Falls In NESCAC Semifinals

Liz Osgood scored a five-on-three power play goal 13:16 into overtime to lift Colby to a 3-2 upset victory over top-seeded Middlebury in the NESCAC semifinals. The Panthers held a sizeable 48-17 shots advantage in the game, but it wasn’t enough as Lacey Brown made 46 saves on the afternoon for Colby. The Mules advance to Sunday’s championship game at 1:00 p.m., against the winner of the Trinity/Amherst game played later today. Middlebury will hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament when the pairings are announced Monday afternoon.

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team will host the NESCAC semifinals and championship on March 8th and 9th in the Kenyon Arena. The Panthers will meet Colby at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Amherst meets Trinity in the other semifinal at 4:00 p.m. The winners meet for the NESCAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door and are priced at $5 for adults and $2 for students.

Levin Named NESCAC Player Of The Week

Middlebury College women’s hockey player Karen Levin (Morton Grove, Ill.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior had three goals and three assists in helping the Panthers capture the top seed in the 2008 NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Championship with two wins over the weekend. Levin had two goals and two assists during Friday evening’s victory at Hamilton, then scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday’s win at Wesleyan. Her final point of the weekend was the 100th of her career.

Women's Hockey Clinches Top Seed For NESCAC Tourney

Middlebury wrapped-up an undefeated NESCAC season as they defeated Wesleyan 5-1 to end the regular season. The Panthers have clinched the top seed in the NESCAC and will host the conference semifinals and finals on March 8th and 9th in Kenyon Arena.

Molly Vitt and Karen Levin each picked up two goals and two assists to help lead Middlebury past host Hamilton 7-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game at Russell Sage Rink.

Women's Hockey Earns Tie With Amherst

For the second time this season, Middlebury and Amherst played 65 minutes of hockey and were unable to come up with a winner. After a 2-2 tie at Amherst on November 30th, the teams ended in a 1-1 deadlock this afternoon in Kenyon Arena. Middlebury maintains a one-point lead over Amherst for the top spot in the NESCAC standings with one weekend remaining in the regular season.

Women's Hockey Tops Conn. College

Anna McNally notched a hat-trick to lead Middlebury to a 5-1 win over Connecticut College. The rookie now leads the team with 18 goals on the season, while Annemarie Cellino assisted on each of the three to boast a team-high 36 points. The Panthers host a key NESCAC match-up against Amherst on Saturday, while Connecticut College visits Williams.

Top-Ranked Middlebury Falls To #2 Plattsburgh

Middlebury saw its 17-game unbeaten streak come to an end as they suffered a 3-0 loss at Plattsburgh. The game was a rematch of the past two NCAA Division III championship games and was played before 1,052 at Stafford Ice Arena. The Panthers suffer their first shutout in 134 games.

McNally Is Player Of The Week

Middlebury College women’s hockey player Anna McNally (St. Paul, Minn.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. McNally tallied three goals and three assists during a pair of wins for the Panthers last week. She had a hand in five of Middlebury’s seven goals during a mid-week victory at Williams, collecting two goals and three assists. She closed out the week on Saturday at home with a goal in a win over Neumann. McNally leads all conference rookies in scoring with 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points through 17 games.

The top-ranked Panthers will travel to #2 Plattsburgh for a Tuesday night tilt.

Middlebury scored five second period goals on its way to a 6-0 win over Neumann. The Panthers extend their unbeaten streak to 17 games, setting up a match-up at second-ranked Plattsburgh on Tuesday night.

Women's Hockey Dominates Williams

The unbeaten streak extended to 16 games as Middlebury picked up a 7-1 NESCAC road win at Williams. The Panthers out shot the Ephs 72-25 on the night, including four second period goals.

Women's Hockey Wins At Bowdoin

Middlebury extended its unbeaten streak to 15 games with a 3-1 win at Bowdoin on Saturday. The Panthers improve to 14-1-2 while the Polar Bears fall to 5-8-3.

Women's Hockey Picks Up Road Win At Colby

After a scoreless first period, Middlebury scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period to earn a 3-1 win at Colby. Molly Vitt scored 1:21 into the second period for the Panthers, who are now 13-1-2, 8-0-2 in NESCAC play. Annmarie Cellino tallied unassisted at 7:13 and Julia Ireland netted the third goal at 9:54.

Middlebury handed Saint Anselm its first loss of the season as 12-1-2 Panthers defeated the Hawks (14-1), 4-1. The loss snaps Saint Anselm's 18-game unbeaten streak dating back to last season, while it increases Middlebury’s to 13.

Women's Hockey Earns Tie At Trinity

Randi Dumont scored a power play goal with the netminder pulled with 18 seconds remaining to earn a 2-2 tie at Trinity. The tie snapped a 16-game losing streak for the Bantams against visiting Middlebury. Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, is now 9-2-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the NESCAC. The Bantams had lost 16 straight games to Middlebury by a combined score of 100-6 and had been shut out by Middlebury the last six times by a combined count of 37-0. The Panthers, ranked No. 2 nationally are now 11-1-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the league.

Middlebury extended its unbeaten streak to 11 games, while snapping Trinity's seven-game winning streak, as the Panthers earned a 2-0 road win. The Bantams, ranked No. 9 in the nation, drop to 9-2-1 on the season (4-2-1, NESCAC) while the Panthers improve to 11-1-1.

Six Third Period Goals Lifts Middlebury Over Williams

Middlebury exploded for six goals in the first 6:13 of the third period to break open a 1-1 tie on its way to a 7-1 win over Williams. The Panthers extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1) and return to play this weekend with a pair at Trinity. The Ephs fall to 1-9-1 and will play two at Neumann this weekend. The game also featured Middlebury head coach Bill Mandigo facing his daughter Erin, a rookie on the Williams squad.

Middlebury came from a 2-1 deficit to pick up a 4-2 win over Utica in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers outshot the Pioneers 35-15 en route to the win.

Middlebury improved to 6-1-1 on the season as the third-ranked Panthers picked up a 3-0 win over fifth-ranked R.I.T. The Panthers return to action on Sunday when they host Utica, while R.I.T. visits Amherst.

McNally Is Named Player Of The Week

Middlebury College women’s hockey player Anna McNally (St. Paul, Minn.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The Middlebury rookie scored four goals and earned two assists in the Panthers’ victory over UMass.-Boston on Saturday afternoon. McNally’s first goal of the game came while Middlebury was shorthanded in the first period, while she finished the contest with four special teams points with a goal and the two assists coming while the Panthers were on the power play. The rookie forward has 17 points through her first seven games at Middlebury (10-7-17) and is second in the league in points and goals/game.

Women's Hockey Rolls Over UMass.-Boston

Middlebury improved to 5-1-1 on the season as they ended the semester with a 9-0 win over UMass.-Boston. Annemarie Cellino earned her 100th career point in the win, achieving the milestone in just 65 career games. She ended the day with a goal and five assists, while Anna McNally earned four goals and two assists for the Panthers.

Women's Hockey Edges Conn. College

Middlebury out-shot Connecticut College 39-20 as the Panthers earned a 2-1 road win. Erika Nakamura scored the lone goal of the first period with an assist from Randi Dumont. The Camels tied the game with a power play goal from Caroline Jeffery 12:52 into the second period, while Nakamura netted the game-winner at the 16:11 mark of the period. Lexi Bloom stopped 19 shots for the Panthers., while Lauren Mellen made 37 stops for the Camels.

Women's Hockey Earns Tie At Amherst

Second-ranked Middlebury earned a tie on the road as they battled to a 2-2 deadlock at seventh-ranked Amherst. The Panthers got on the board just five minutes into the second period, on a rebound goal from Nora Bergman. Ashley Bairos picked up an assist with the initial shot.

Cellino Earns NESCAC Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College women’s hockey player Annmarie Cellino (W. Seneca, N.Y.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The junior had a nine-point weekend as Middlebury defeated Wesleyan and Hamilton. The junior earned two assists in the win over Wesleyan, before scoring a pair of goals and assisting on five others in Middlebury's win over Hamilton. She now leads the league with 3.0 points/game and 2.0 assists/game on the year.

Women's Hockey Cruises Past Hamilton

Anna McNally and Annemarie Cellino combined for five goals and six assists as Middlebury cruised to a 9-0 win over Hamilton. The Panthers outshot the Continentals 33-11 on the afternoon as they picked up the shutout victory.

Women's Hockey Blanks Wesleyan

Middlebury outshot Wesleyan 49-9 as the Panthers came away with a 4-0 win over the Cardinals in Kenyon Arena. Lexi Bloom made nine saves in goal for Middlebury to pick up her first career win and shutout.

Women's Hockey Falls To Plattsbugh In Tourney Final

Plattsburgh captured the third annual Panther/Cardinal Classic Tournament as they defeated Middlebury 3-2 in the Kenyon Arena. Danielle Blanchard scored a natural hat-trick in the third period to lift the Cardinals to the win, earning tournament M.V.P. honors. Plattsburgh improves to 6-0 on the year, while Middlebury drops to 1-1. The Cardinals now sport a 35-game unbeaten streak, dating back to a 3-1 loss to Middlebury in the ’06 NCAA title game.

Women's Hockey Opens With Win Over Elmira

Middlebury opened its season with a 3-1 win over Elmira in the Panther/Cardinal Classic Tournament hosted by the Panthers in Kenyon Arena. Middlebury will take on Plattsburgh, a 2-0 winner over Williams, in the title game on Sunday at 5:00. The Soaring Eagles will meet the Ephs in the consolation game at 2:00 p.m.

McNamara Named Asst. Women's Hockey Coach

Former Middlebury College women’s hockey player Emily McNamara ’07 has been named the school’s new assistant women’s hockey coach. McNamara was an integral member of the most successful class in the history of the program.
