Women's Lacrosse Players Earn All-NESCAC Honors

Three members of the Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team have earned All-NESCAC honors. Seniors Katherine Entwisle (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) and Reid Berrien (Westport, Conn.) have earned first-team honors, while junior Taryn Petrelli (Harrison, N.Y.) earned a spot on the second team. The Panthers are preparing for an NCAA Regional this weekend at Hamilton, where they’ll take on Gettysburg.

Women's Lacrosse Headed To NCAA Regional

The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will take part in one of four, four-team NCAA Regionals this weekend at Hamilton. The Panthers will meet Gettysburg at 2:30 on Saturday, May 10th, while the host school meets Colby in the other regional match-up. The winners meet on Sunday at 1:00 with a trip to the final four on the line.

Women's Lacrosse Tops Ithaca - Headed To NCAA Regionals

Middlebury jumped out to a 11-0 lead and never looked back, on its way to a 19-3 win over Ithaca in an NCAA Tournament first-round game on Kohn Field. The Panthers advance to an NCAA Regional at Hamilton on Saturday, where they will meet Gettysburg at 2:30 p.m. Ithaca ends its season with a 9-8 mark.

The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team will make its 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance when they host Ithaca in a first-round game on Wednesday, May 7th at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to an NCAA Regional at Hamilton, where they will meet Gettysburg at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Women's Lacrosse Knocked Off In NESCAC Semi's

Middlebury saw an 88-game home winning streak come to an end as Colby came from behind to pick up a 10-8 win over the Panthers in a NESCAC semifinal game on Kohn Field. The Mules will play in the title game (for the second straight season) on Sunday at noon against Trinity, a 10-9 double overtime winner over Amherst. The Panthers, who lost at home for the first time since a 10-9 loss to Williams in the ’97 regular season finale, will hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA’s when the selections are announced on Sunday night. The loss is the first in NESCAC Tournament play for the Panthers, who won the first seven tournaments with a combined record of 14-0.

Women's Lacrosse Set To Host Championship - Watch Live!

Top-seeded Middlebury College will pursue its eighth consecutive conference title this weekend when the Panthers host the final rounds of the 2008 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Peter Kohn Field in Middlebury, Vt. The semifinals begin Saturday, May 3 with Middlebury facing fifth-seeded Colby at 12:00 p.m. and will be immediately followed with second-seeded Amherst taking on third-seeded Trinity at 2:30 p.m. The 2008 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship concludes on Sunday, May 4 at 12:00 p.m. Fans unable to attend this weekend’s action will be able to follow all three games live via the Internet on D3Cast.com.

Women's Lax Falls At Tufts

The women's lacrosse team ended its regular season with a 15-7 loss at Tufts on Saturday. The loss snaps a 76-game NESCAC winning streak for the Panthers, dating back to a 4/8/00 loss to Amherst. Middlebury remains the top seed in the tournament and will host the NESCAC semifinals and finals on Mary 3rd and 4th.

Middlebury won its seventh straight game as the Panthers cruised to a 19-1 win over Skidmore. Middlebury ends it regular season this Saturday at Tufts before hosting the NESCAC semifinals and finals on Kohn Field for the eighth straight season on May 3rd and 4th.

Schatz Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College women’s lacrosse player Mimi Schatz (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. During a 2-0 week for the Panthers, Schatz collected 10 points with five goals - including both game-winners - and five assists. On Wednesday, Schatz had three goals and an assist in a 16-10 win over Union. She closed out the week against Wesleyan by tallying two goals and four assists in a 19-6 decision. Schatz also had five draw controls and three caused turnovers during the week.

It a battle of the seventh and eighth ranked teams in the nation, #7 Middlebury earned a 16-10 victory over #8 Union on Kohn Field. The Panthers jumped out to a 12-4 lead and never looked back as they outshot Union 38-19 on the afternoon.

Women's Lacrosse Earns Win At Trinity

Sally Ryan scored the game-winning goal with 5:32 left in the game and goalie Blair Bowie made 21 saves to lead visiting Middlebury to a 13-11 win over Trinity in NESCAC women’s lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 11 in the nation, falls to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the NESCAC with its first loss in three games, while the Panthers, ranked No. 7 nationally, improve to 7-2 overall and remain perfect in the league at 7-0 with their fourth straight victory.

Mimi Schatz had three goals and three assists as third-ranked Middlebury opened up a 9-4 halftime lead on the way to a 17-11 victory over 13th-ranked Colby in NESCAC Saturday at Bill Alfond Field. Middlebury improves to 4-2 overall and 4-0 in the NESCAC, while the Mules fall to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Women's Lacrosse Falls At Gettysburg In OT

Middlebury dropped its second straight game as the #3 Panthers fell 19-17 in overtime at #4 Gettysburg. The second straight loss suffered by the Panthers marks the first time it has happend since the end of the '90 season. The Bullets improve to 10-0 overall this season, matching its second-best start in program history, and picked up its first win against Middlebury (3-2) in four tries. Last season, the Panthers notched the final goal in regulation and scored the only goal in the overtime period to pick up a 12-11 decision over the Bullets at Clark Field.

Middlebury broke open a 7-6 game by scoring the final six goals of the contest on its way to a 13-6 win over Bowdoin on Kohn Field. The Panthers improve to 3-0 on the season and will travel to Washington & Lee and Gettysburg on their upcoming spring break trip. The Polar Bears move to 4-2 on the year and will visit Wheaton on Wednesday.

Middlebury overcame an early 3-1 deficit en route to a 16-12 victory over Bates in the season-opener for both teams on Friday night in Lewiston, Maine. The third-ranked and seven-time NESCAC champions start their season 1-0 and return home to face Connecticut College next Saturday afternoon.

Foote Honored By Lacrosse Magazine

Middlebury College women's lacrosse coach Missy Foote has been honored by Lacrosse Magazine. She was deemed one of the nation's top 10 men's or women's lacrosse coaches during the U.S. Lacrosse era (last 10 years). The magazine said, "Foote has four D3 titles to her credit in the USL era. To do so under the academic and institutional rigors othe the NESCAC is laudable."

Howard Named Asst. Field Hockey & Lacrosse Coach

Former Middlebury College standout Heidi Howard ’99 has been named an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach at her alma mater. Howard comes to Middlebury from Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, where she served as the head coach of the girls’ lacrosse team for the past two seasons, while also assisting the field hockey team.
